Clarke Won't Close. It's Too Stubborn. 5/29/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: peregrine

I can't really remember what happened yesterday, or why I didn't write. So yeah.

Oh yeah, council. Short meeting. I brought my hat that I bought at Wonderland and put it on Devin. He looked cute.

That's really all I can remember actually...

Today we had a substitute bus driver who was late. Stupid fucker. In French we finished up our newspaper scavenger hunt. In Strings we had a quiz on key signatures. Oh yeah, yesterday in Strings Erika "accidentally" punched Dave in the eye and now he has a nice bruise.

At lunch I hung out, the usual. Finally brought my course change form in. Eh-heh. My grade 11 friends, especially Pat and Amanda, are getting really frustrated with the school and I think I am too.

See, Clarke is a small school, and sometimes there isn't enough interest in a course for it to run so then they have to cancel it and people who signed up have to take something else. Another situation is they don't have enough staff, which is more common due to stupid government cuts. According to Pat, almost half the classes for next year have been cut, so since they're all going into their senior year, he and the rest of the grade 11s have to find other courses to take. You have to have at least 6 University level courses to take in order to get into any university, so now they have to find their Uni. courses. I talked to Pat and Amanda and they're really pissed off because they can't find anything that they really want while still getting their graduation requirements at the same time. Ryan F. apparently lost practically everything and might have to go to another school. I think I heard Ryan H. saying something about going to an artsy school in Florida.

All I'm thinking is, where's my international exchange when I need it?

In the afternoon I had my picture taken for the yearbook with the Reach thing. I stood in the tree in the courtyard. Hehe.

We had a Math test on Quadratic Equations, it was pretty easy. In Science we started something on vectors and had a quiz.

I didn't see Devin until after last period 'cause the lazy ass slept in today. Hehe. I talked with him and Pat and someone who's name I can't remember and Devin lost his Economics class in that stupid thing. Pat was in that class too; he lost accounting as well. Gahhhh.

Anyhoo, right now I'm talking to Kyle and Julie. Dinner will be ready soon, it's pork chops and applesauce. Yummy. It's hella hot out here, fuckery. I need to shave my legs tonight and maybe I'll wear shorts to school tomorrow.

Ah yes, shaving.
See I thought about doing that tonight, but decided against it. What's the point? I'm only going to wear pants again tomorrow. [Static Inertia]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ugh, school. Ugh, shaving. Lol. That's my general view on most things. :-D [.abstract thinking.]

fuckery is a nice word. shaving legs... i need to do that soon. i would feel a hella lot more motivated if my boyfriend could actually see them though. haaa. [lazycowgirl]

Oh Fu-ah-art! 5/27/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: aphorism

Today we went to Wonderland. Wahoo Nooch! The title is a quote from Pat as we got to the bottom of Drop Zone; he was going to say "Oh fuck" but then realized that Mr. Sharpe was right there on the other side of the railing so he quickly changed what he said and it sounded really funny.

Anyway, the bus ride was the usual. Katie and I played Hangman the whole way, which is tradition. We did quotes and stuff, it was fun.

All day I hung out with Katie, Pat, Jessica, Erika, Dave, Aisha, Lauren, Sarah, Shannon, Krista, Kim, Heather, Anita, Jeff, Nick, Julia and probably some other people at some point or other in the day. We went on Swing of the Century (twice), Psyclone (the new one -- totally awesome), The Bat, The Wild Beast, Timberwolf Falls (got SOAKED!), Superstition (the movie thingy), the Krachenwagen (bumper cars), Thunder Run, The Vortex, Dragon Fire, Nightmares, Drop Zone, Cliffhanger (they didn't get people wet today), The Spinovator (my hat flew off but I got it back), The Fly (we all did the "royal wave" for the picture but none of us bought one), The Mighty Canadian Minebuster, and probably other stuff that I can't remember. No Top Gun this year. Went to the arcade in the last half hour.

I had New York Fries for lunch and a funnel cake for supper. My very first funnel cake.... ahhh, it was awesome. I probably gained so much weight but it's worth the $8.00. Pat bought like, $20 worth of candy at the beginning of the day and shared it with us, so we all got really hyper. Pat himself is energetic enough as it is so add the sugar and he was bouncing off the walls.

I bought this purple wizard hat for like, $5 (which is amazingly cheap) and I actually found something with my name on it. It's very hard for me to find anything that says "Jenna" on it, at least I'm not Éadaoin. Eh-heh. But Jessica found it and I started flipping out and bought it.

The bus ride home was long and boring but I yakked with Katie and Heather and Anita.

When we got back I had to go give Pat his pants back (he has the zip-off leg things and I had them in my bag) and then Mom brought Katie and I to the Leo's meeting, where I was inducted into the club and installed as a director on the executive. Nooch.

Anyway, did I mention my cousin Stephaney? *checks* Yes I did. It's still not sinking in yet.

Anyhoo, I gotta e-mail Dad and then go to bed.

Hmm... Probably after exams are done. Some sort of going away thingy before everyone goes their separate ways.

Hmm.. Jenna, I'm ashamed. You did not mention my favourite ride of all time. Skyrider. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?! [Static Inertia]

Survey Says... 5/27/2002
My name is Jenna

I may seem weird and scary

But I am original, intelligent, thoughtful, weird and scary.

People who know me think I'm what I wrote above.

If you knew me you’d probably think I'm the same.

Sometimes I feel unappreciated.

My days are full of laughs.

In the morning I try to go back to sleep even though I know I have to get up.

In school I wish I was at lunch.

I like to sleep because it's good for me.

If I could be doing anything right now I would be sleeping.

Money is something I rarely have.

One thing I wish I had is more time to spend with the people I love.

One thing I have that I wish I didn’t is asymmetrical eyebrows.

All you need is [to steal, along with the survey, from Anna] LOVE! Da da dadadaaaaa! All you need is love! Da da dadadaaaa! All you need is love, love! Love is all you need!

All I need is love, a pen and paper.

If I had one wish it would be to live comfortably without worrying about money or losing anyone.

When I look in the mirror I see myself, with those damn asymmetrical eyebrows that I should really get Dad's Julie to look at.

My body is a temple.

If an angel flew into my window at night, I would be wondering if it was anyone I used to know.

If a demon flew into my window, I would ask it why it was there.

If I could see one person right now it would be Devin. I really could use a hug from him right now.

Something I want but I don’t really need is junk food.

Something I need but I don’t really want is to work.

I live for love.

I dare you to be spontaneous.

I am afraid of not being here anymore.

It makes me angry that I have to try so hard to hold peoples' attention.

I dream about strange things...

Remember The Last Time We Got Locked In A Freezer 5/26/2002

No, I did not get locked in the freezer at work. I'm not that dumb.

Anyhoo, I worked from 4 to 8:30. Amanda and Amy were working when I got there and we talked for a while. They were off at five, when Julie and Heather came in. Heather was a bit late 'cause her brother was a dumbass and she had to wait for her parents to drive her in. Later Doug came by and we made fun of him. Heather gave him his sub and she was like, "Don't have a nice day, Doug." Earlier, when Lorraine (Julie's mom) dropped Julie off, she and Jessica, Julie's sister, ordered five regular assorteds, four on white, one on whole wheat. I had to go back and cut more white bread because we'd been busy and hadn't had time to cut the new stuff. I sent them dark looks the whole time and told them to get out after. Just 'cause it's them.

Work was pretty fun, since the three of us are buds and Chris was the assistant manager on. Chris is funny.

I got my 74 cent fries on my break. They were good.

Bert gave me my pay stub. I'm very proud of the $19.07 I earned. *nods and smiles*

Anyway, I'm out. Going to Canada's Wonderland with the band tomorrow. Rock on.

I'm A Cook, Dammit! Part Two 5/26/2002

...continued...

Saturday. Cleaning day. Oh fun. Nothing much else. I worked 4-8 with Julie and the other assistant manager, Chris. Had a pretty good time. I love this whole employee discount thing. My fries at Wendy's were 74 cents.

After work I came home and changed. Andrea called Dad regarding the cryptic e-mail he'd sent Mom the day before. All it said was that Stephaney, my cousin, and Debbie, my aunt, had gone to the hospital, don't tell Grammy and Papa Don. And that was it. Turns out that Steph had a baby girl, named her Sapphire Maya. Stephaney is exactly two years older than me, minus one day. Yeah. She's seventeen. None of us even knew she was pregnant in the first place, and Grammy and Papa Don aren't supposed to know. I don't think Steph's keeping her. That's all I know. I left for Heather's after I found out what the baby's name was.

Heather's in itself was something different. Anita, Tom, Katie, Jeff and Andrew were there too. We watched the game (Leafs won, woo hoo!) talked, joked around, the usual. I showed Anita the "What's Left?" card trick and it was made many times more interesting by the fact that she was hammered at the time. Yeah. Hammered. Her, Tom and Heather had a little too much ginger ale and rye.

Let's go over some things now. I do not like alcohol. I don't like how it tastes, therefore I do not drink it. I don't care if it's in a form in which you do not taste it, the only alcohol I ever consume is in those Domingo wine coolers that have like, 0.5% alcohol in them. Those things are good. In any case, as I said, I don't like it, I don't drink it. I don't mind other people drinking as long as they don't get smashed out of their minds. Had I known beforehand that anyone would have been drinking I would not have gone simply because I get very uncomfortable when people are drunk. In hindsight I should have gone home as soon as I found out they were drinking if not just to get my point across. They know me well enough to know that I don't like that. Besides that, Heather has a responsibility as a hostess to ensure her guests are okay. If she's going to allow drinking then she herself shouldn't touch the stuff because you can't exactly look out for everyone if you're hammered. I'm going to have to talk to her about that today.

So those three were going insane. I tried to ignore it and just did what I usually do at parties, which is joke around and the usual. Katie and Doug commented on how they couldn't tell the difference between Heather drunk and me sober. *shrug* That's how I am, I guess.

I went home at about ten to midnight. Heather was going on about wanting to walk me home and I told her no because if she did, Mom would be able to tell she was drunk and never allow me to go to her house when her parents were away ever again. She was like, "I can compose myself," while still insisting she wasn't drunk. Eventually I just said I'd see her at work tomorrow and left.

I got home, went to bed, and slept. A lot. I slept in this morning actually and Mom and I were almost late for church. Anyhoo, I gotta go get ready for work now.

I figure alcohol is an acquired taste, so why even acquire a taste for it? It's like coffee - except I've started drinking coffee waaay too much. But that's besides the point. :) [Ms. Spunky]

I'm A Cook, Dammit! 5/26/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: homogenous

We have the new OLP song cranked on Much right now. It kicks ass. Ooooh, now Chad Kroeger and Josey Scott. Nickelspit.

Well, let's see... since TOD seems to be having difficulties I've been a little peeved. I should start writing offline in Notepad and then posting. Anyhoo, I'll start with Friday.

Normal normal day. Ran around doing stuff, being a nutbar, the usual. School was kinda blah and I don't really remember it but after school was great. Devin and Pat and I went to the Oshawa Centre, which is the big mall in the area.

I went over to Devin's house around five-ish and we hung out for a while. He was listening to loud music upstairs and didin't hear me ring the doorbell so I went back to the car and called him on the cell. He waved from the window and then came downstairs. I read the story he's writing for the Vampire Hunter D fanfiction thing we're doing with Ryan and Pat, it's pretty good. We were drinking ginger ale and I let out this really loud and really long burp and then we were laughing and Devin's sister Jenny stuck her head in his room and told Devin he was disgusting. I was like, "Ah, that was me," and I don't think she really believed me. It was funny anyway.

We went and picked up Pat and then drove to Oshawa, listening to music cranked up really loud. The rule in Jenny's car is no talking, but you can sing as much as you want. Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, Chad Kroeger & Josey Scott, Puddle of Mudd, lotsa good stuff. Devin took over the CD player and kept putting it on the Nadesico quotes, like, "I'm a cook, dammit!" (Akito) 'Twas fun.

We wandered around, just looking at stuff. We made fun of all the clothes in the expensive stores and didn't buy anything. I dragged them into the Body Shop to smell all the bath stuff and we put some of this tanning lotion on Devin's arm; he said it looked like semen. Looked at video games in the EB, yada yada.

Went down to Chapters so Pat could look for his tarot cards. We found Tarot Cards for Speds, which were these big clunky ones with the meanings written next to the pictures, which Pat didn't want. He kept looking around the New Age section while Devin and I wandered around and looked at the movies and music and then we ventured into the Self-Help section and looked at the sex books just for fun. We know how to have sex in a box now. *nods* Not joking! This one drawing had the couple's limbs twisted in such a fashion that they made this nice little square. It was rather weird. And the one where the woman was standing on her head was weird too.

Eventually we went back to Pat and he ended up having to order the set of cards he wanted. While the creepy salesguy was helping him out, Devin and I were dancing around and got caught. Hehe. Then we realized we had half an hour before Jenny was supposed to pick us up so we went to the food court for a while.

The bastards at Yogen Fruz didn't have any peach left so I had to get a strawberry one. Grrr. We sat around for a while, me with my Yogen Fruz, Pat with his Brownie Earthquake and Devin with his Cinnabon. I got brain freeze a couple times. Vickie, Devin's cousin, was there with her mom and her sisters and they stopped over and we chatted for a while. Devin sort of French kissed me but it didn't exactly work because I had no idea he was going to do it so it felt really weird. I told him and he was okay with it. I'm thinking perhaps we should try that some other time when we're not in the middle of the food court.

We went back to the EB and Devin bought the game he was looking at earlier, then went to Zellers for this controller adapter thing. Pat and Devin and Jenny ran up the down escalator. I didn't 'cause my feet were bugging me so Vickie and I went around to the up one and waited for them. We took Vickie home 'cause she wanted to leave while her sisters wanted to stay, and then headed back to Devin's. He and pat and I were being loud and annoying in the back. Stopped at McDonald's to bug our friends that work there. Devin was running funny when he went in so Jenny and I were making fun of him by doing the teenybopper girly run. "Oh my Gawd, I'm gonna break a nail!" "My skirt's too tight, I can't run!" etc., etc. It was funny.

Back at Devin's we played the game, the name of which escapes me now. The main character, Reid, is a he-she barbarian. Then there's Farah the martial artist farmer, and Meredy the pink alien girl with really weird legs. It's for Playstation 1, I believe. If any of this sounds familiar to you and you know the name of the game, tell me. Anyway, it's a pretty cool game and it sucked that I had to leave at 10:30 but I had to work the next day anyway. Daniel came to the door and later in the car he commented that Devin was tall.

Foot Rub, Stat! 5/23/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: watershed

I worked 5-9. I am tired. So it shall be short today.

This morning in French I won this little frog thing. It's so cute. Except I played with him a little too much and he broke. So when we got to Strings I asked Mr. Sharpe if I could borrow his little screwdrivers and we fixed him. Good as new. Booyah!

At lunch I did the usual. Jessica needed some money so she was auctioning people off instead of just asking. I bought Jamie, Éadaoin, Heather and Anita as a box set for a quarter. :-P Then I went downstairs to hang out with Lor and Erin for a while, and then I went upstairs again. They informed me that Devin was looking for me so I went downstairs again to Lor and Erin. Lor had threatened to send me strange e-mails if I didn't come back anyway, so I get there and they inform me that Devin was by looking for me. Well then. I hung out there for a bit, then wandered around some more. Heather and Anita told me the same thing too, that Devin was looking for me. Anita actually asked me if his leash had broken. We didn't find each other until quarter after twelve so not a lot of time. He'd been running around and stuff. Anyway, we hung around goofed off, the usual.

The afternoon was slow and boring. So yeah.

At work I was with Tina and Jodie. I know Tina from school and I'm not that fond of her but she's okay. Jodie's the assistant manager and a neat freak. I can stand that. I saw Darcy when I came in and Mom freaked him out by knowing the whole "Buddy Christ" thing. I bugged him on my break too. This girl Crystal from Wendy's was there too and we were talking, I was making fun of Darcy, and she said, "You're such a Marilyn." Then I told her that Marilyn was my mom and she was like, "Really?!" Mom's kinda notorious around the place. Everyone knows her so if I say anything about being Marilyn's daughter they're like, "Ahhh..."

Aaaanyhoo, I'm off.

Says Here That We'd Have To Boil The Water 5/22/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: mentor

Once again I have put off writing until late. Gahhh. I shall start by elaborating on what I mentioned yesterday.

Casey did tell me what his big secret was, and since it is kind of a secret, I'm not going to tell any of you even though there's really no chance you'll talk to him or anyone else involved. It wasn't as big of a deal as he made it out to be and I wasn't mad or anything either.

I apologized to Devin yesterday for being pushy about the weird thing, and we kissed and made up. Literally of course. :-)

Yes, Kyle, as in Kelso, likes Julie. Problem is, Julie's still going out with that idiot Dave. Kyle just asked me to help him get to know her more and not to tell her. And then today she beat it out of me. Shit. Kyle's a bit mad at me but Heather's having a get together on Saturday and even though Julie and I are both working I'm going, and Julie's going to try to go and I'll make sure Devin brings Kyle. I told her to just get to know him, I mean, he's Kelso, come on. Hopefully she'll realize that however dense he can act, he's not really, and he's a bazillion times of a better person than Dave is, and then perhaps they'll hook up. Julie and Dave go out on and off and on and off and... well, you get it, and it's been ten months like that. Really. She doesn't get it sometimes. Gah.

Heather and I didn't go on our Adventure because she had to umpire tonight, but we will... oh yes we will...

Pat Quinn apparently has an irregular heartbeat and will have to miss at least the next two games.

Today on the announcements Darcy introduced us to *dadadadaaaa* Sanchos. *dadadadaaaa* Sanchos is rather... lame. Sorry. He barely changed his voice. Kyle was saying, "You need to get some actual guests on the show... like me."

Pat has a "haunting feeling" that for the little groups we're going to be doing in Strings, I'm going to be in the second worst one. Amanda's going to be in the worst, but I'm going to be in the second worst. Really I think it'll all turn out okay as long as I don't get stuck with Tieran. Anyone else I can work with.

Dave made me listen to Kylie Minogue today. I almost died. Gah. I don't like her. He's obsessed.

Devin was being a nutbar all day today and I loved it. I had to literally drag him downstairs because they were taking the couples pictures for the yearbook and he hates having his picture taken. I was like, "See, that didn't hurt, did it?" and he was like, "Yes it did. The camera ripped out part of my soul." And then he feigned death and it was funny.

Jessica was making us all these little name tags at lunch. I still have mine on, I'll probably put it in my notebook. She has this book with a fuzzy cover with Tigger on it, and when you press Tigger's nose it talks. I was so amused by it all lunch hour.

Hmm... what else is there... Oh yeah. If they don't sell enough tickets this week, on Monday they're going to open up the prom to all grades, not just the seniors. It's pretty much what they do. Start with the grade 12s and OACs, then look at sales and open it up to the lower grades accordingly. It must be really bad if they're opening it up to everyone. We were joking about all going and crashing the seniors' party but I don't think I'd go anyway. Devin hasn't brought it up and it's been open to the grade 11s for a while now. I'd find it weird, I guess, and quite frankly I can't afford to go through the whole kit and caboodle of prom more than once. It's supposed to be something for your senior year, and if I went this year I'd still want to go in grade 12. It would lose its special-ness.

I painted the nail on my ring fingers orange. Just the one finger, that's all. Orange. 'Cause I felt like it.

Tomorrow's my first day of work. Mom and I went out and we got my work shoes at Payless today; they're the same kind Mom has. Julie says I'm going to be working with Tina, oh whoop de-doo. I'm not too fond of her, but I'll be okay.

Aaaaanyway, it's almost 10:30 and I need sleep. Exams are in like, 4 weeks and I'm starting to get hit with the May Drain. Sleep = Good.

Just When I Thought That I Was Better 5/21/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: contestation

Fuck TOD and its non-workingness. Fuckage.

I would write more but it's late. I'll just say that Casey told me what it is, and it really wasn't as big of a deal as he made it out to be, Devin didn't tell me but I'm not going to bug him about it, Kyle likes Julie and I'm supposed to help him get to know her better, Heather and I are going on an Adventure tomorrow afternoon, the Leafs lost, Pat Quinn's in the hospital, I don't have to take a Strings exam, and today we had a student council meeting. And that's about it.

I'm The Hero With The Rockem Sockem Jet Pack 5/18/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: congruence

I found one of those Arnold Schwarzenneger sound boards and I've been messing around with it all afternoon. Rather funny. :-D

Thanks a lot for your support while I'm hanging off the proverbial cliff that Devin's left me on. People keep doing this to me. I was talking to Casey last night, and he tells me that there's something that's been on his mind for the last six months and every time he's gone to tell me, he decides against it. So now he's supposedly decided to tell me, but last night he "wimped out" and said that there was someone else he had to tell first, and he promised to tell me today. See, that's better than what Devin did. I understand that Casey needs to tell this other person first and I know he will tell me tonight. He also said that if I wasn't online he'd send me an e-mail. That's a good reason. "It's too weird" isn't. I was a little ticked off at Casey last night for putting me on another cliff but the fact that he explained exactly why he couldn't tell me this and said when he would tell me makes it less frustrating. But still, gah.

Andrea and Daniel left for Toronto with Dad this morning and Mom worked from 6:30 to 3, so now it's 7:00 and Mom and I are probably going to get some dinner soon. I did very little all day except watch TV and mess around online. Zippy was being a very sucky kitty today, curling up on my lap several times and rubbing up against my legs all the time. He purred a lot. I love my cat.

I'm gonna go now. Later.

WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO TELL YOU? Haha. Not that you would be guaranteed to put it in your diary or anything...I think it's funny, but if it was me I'd be going insane.
Ah well. Best of luck. :D [Ms. Spunky]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i love you cat too dammit, why can't i have one? i don't like to be kept in the dark too much, people should just shut up if they don't want to tell us something... instead of saying 'i have something, but i'm not telling'. gah! shut up, goddamn people. >_< [lazycowgirl]

Weird 5/17/2002

Since I'd eaten already, I hung out in the hall all lunch. I went with Julie to the caf and she bought a strawberry-kiwi slushie, which is very good. We sat around and talked for a while. I saw Mike and called him Mike the Cow because at the Fun Fair last night he was wearing a cow costume and handing out balloons.

Since this is long it'll be mostly copied and pasted from when I told it to Casey a while ago, so don't mind the bad caps and punctuation.

We were hanging out at the top of the front stairwell like usual, and Devin says he's going to go for a bit, so he leaves. then i'm standing around later, talking with kyle and julie and amielia, and i'm about to leave to go see what class i have, when I see devin come barrelling down the hall like a madman. I open the door so he doesn't run into it and kill himself, and he grabs me and starts saying "it's weird!" in a very tragic tone. He kinda pulled me over and we were sitting on the floor, him still saying nothing "it's weird!" and me asking "What's weird?" while Kyle, Julie, and Steven, who showed up later, are making stupid sexual comments, which we ignore, and he wouldn't tell me what was weird, he just kinda lay there saying that something happened and it was weird and he didn't know what to do.

devin was clutching this piece of paper which he wouldn't let me see, because apparently it has something to do with whatever was weird. eventually we got up 'cause the bell was going to go soon, and he still wouldn't tell me what was weird. when we were downstairs at his locker, him still not telling me what was weird, cedar overheard us and said that "if you bring something up, you have to tell the whole thing. that's the rule."

and yet, he still would not tell me. i'm not sure if she was there for it or what, but i'm not going to ask her about it. he just wouldn't tell me what was weird. so i let it drop for a bit and we parted ways.

I told erin about it during science. i had to get her to slap me because my overactive imagination was running away with whatever this weird thing could be throughout the entire class. i thought she might know something because she and devin have been friends since they were little kids, but she knew nothing, except that if it was really bad he'd tell me, and that if he still wouldn't tell me she'd have to beat him.

so after science i met up with him again and tried to get him to tell me what was weird again, and he still said nothing. i mentioned erin beating him up and he laughed, but other than that nothing. i got a bit irritated with him because i hate having things kept from me, and i told him so, and he seemed to get kind of upset. devin said something about "can't you just comfort me?" and i told him that i couldn't comfort him if i didn't know what i was comforting him for. he didn't say anything so i apologized, dropped it and went to math. and when i saw him after school he didn't say anything and i didn't bring it up.

That would be about it. It's long and confusing and I don't expect you to read it all. But it's really bugging me. Just the way he was acting set something off. The tone of his voice, the look on his face... it's something, i know. I talked to heather about it this afternoon when she came over. She had a craving for cupcakes so we hung out and had cupcakes, but we really didn't come up with anything. I have this feeling that if i ask anyone else they'll just say something along the lines of "devin should tell you himself", which he should, but he won't.

I tried to use the whole talking-it-out-helps thing on devin, when he said he himself didn't fully understand what went on. i said that talking it out sometimes helps and he said something vague about not being able to put it into words. he also mentioned a lot of emotions and feeling like laughing and crying at the same time. Devin also guarded that paper with his life. Heather suggested that perhaps devin doesn't think he can tell me because it's something close to him and we've only been going out for a little over a month, and he's not really sure if he should tell me, which sounds feasible, and if it's true i'd be a bit more supportive and a lot less frustrated if he just told me that.

It's driving me absolutely nuts. I really need some sleep. That's what I'm doing for as much of this long weekend as possible. Sleeping. Good.

Guys, I promise not to leave for this long again. I just can't fit everything in here in one night.

I love you.

I'm so impatient. If one of my friends brought up something and acted all strange about it - and then wouldn't tell me - I would throttle them. Well, in the most amiable sense, of course. But they'd be in for some bodily harm if they didn't tell me what the heck was going on.
Ooh, now I'm curious. :) [Ms. Spunky]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, I hate when things like that happen. I can't stand the not knowing and I'm always wondering why on Earth they cant just tell me. You know? But I'm sure Devin's got a good reason. Think positive. And get some sleep!! :)
Take care, Jenna. -hugs-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RYN: Jenna, you are one of the special ones. You have a beautiful soul. :) I know I may not know you personally, but I know this much. Thank you for being you. :) [.abstract thinking.]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i read it all. i don't know, really. there's nothing you can do if he doesn't want to tell. and if you manage to force it out of him, it just wouldn't be the same as with if he told you himself. right? he probably has a good reason yes. perhaps you could ask him why he won't tell, rather than what. let it go, we can't change the way people feel. comfort him. and if he's ready, he'll spill. [lazycowgirl]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

of course, all the abovementioned merely being in my humble opinion. if i were in your position, i'd probably be throwing a hissy fit. so yay you for keeping your composure! [lazycowgirl]

RYRYN: I try. :) I just know he'll tell you about it, in time. Patience is a virtue not many of us have though. Keep it cool. :) [lazycowgirl]

Goo Goo Ga Chew 5/17/2002

The second half included several changes. Mr. Sharpe changed the order so we sang first. Pat's dad played the piano for Jesu Joy.... I noticed that Pat had the order of the lines written on his hands, which was funny. None of us can remember what order the lines go in, it's insane. Mom says she saw Darcy leaning over to look off Pat's hand. The choreography we planned for Pizza! went off very well. Devin carried Rhiannon off and the look on her face was priceless. Her shoes fell off. It was cute.

Well, I so screwed up on some violin parts in the second half. During Georgia On My Mind, I looked up at Mr. Sharpe for one second... and lost everything. I lost my place, I lost my bow direction, I lost my posture, I lost any ability to read music for about five seconds. It scared the crap out of me. I got back in, but still. And Contradanse, well, I've always sucked at that.

The last piece we played was the Super-Hit Mega Mix, also known as "Jock Rock." At the end, some people went up and led everyone in "YMCA." It was good, but a little way through this complete stranger ran up and started dancing with them! They were very surprised to say the least but they all kept dancing. I couldn't see 'cause I was focusing on the music, but it was very funny.

I stayed after to help clean up a bit. Devin and GJ were moving this cart full of sound equipment and I spotted for them. Actually, I was looking at Devin's butt most of the time. When they brought the thing back I somehow ended up pushing Devin and Kallie's little brother Jamie on it part of the way. Then Devin pushed Jamie on it. I swear, Devin is so adorable with little kids.

I went home around 9:45. I uploaded and posted my pics and then went to bed. I was really, really tired.

I honestly do not remember a lot from Thursday other than the fact that Devin decided that dragging my friends off to talk was important to our relationship and so I was without Heather and Anita for a while, and it was the Fun Fair at NPS. I dropped off my stuff at home right after school and then walked down to the school. I met Daniel there and we went upstairs. Lauren, Sarah, Daniel, Luke, Mr. Willems and I set up in exactly one hour and forty minutes. It was a continuous flow of people for the entire night. I got to rock the chair that the witch sat in. What fun. I didn't see anyone, I was behind the black plastic sheet that was up as a wall. I used my jacket and hoodie as a pillow and lay down. It was kinda nice for a while.

It turned out that the prize at the Minnow Races was actual goldfish. Nearing the end of the evening they were just giving them away. I got one and Daniel got one. Mine is a bit scrawny, rather hyperactive and has a brown stripe down his back. I was ecstatic when I noticed this and immediately named him Duo, after Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing. The stripe is his braid. I thought I'd never find a fish with a stripe down its back but I did, and it was just by chance too. He's not the most attractive thing which is probably why no one was taking him, but I just grabbed him, thinking, a fish is a fish. And mine is Duo. Daniel named his Heero, so now we just need to find a pissy-looking one to name Wufei and we'll have all five Gundam Pilots.

ER was on last night. Season finale. Mom and I watched it. Smallpox. Had to lock down the whole ER. They wouldn't even let Weaver in and this chickie came in even after they were closed to trauma and she was working on him out in the parking lot with Romano tossing down supplies from a door on the 2nd or 3rd floor. I found that rather amusing. The little girl with smallpox died. Her brother was okay but now Abby and Carter are confined to just a few rooms. It was kind of a crappy ending, just Carter and Abby kissing.

Today, Friday, was rather nice. A lazy kind of day. I worked on my assignment in French: I était une fois... (Once upon a time...) I made up this really cheesy story about a prince with a plot that's been done a million times before but it's almost done so I'll be able to finish it well before Wednesday.

In Mr. Sharpe's class, the couple of days after a concert are always "Film Appreciation Days". Literally, we watch movies and eat junk food. We watched the beginning of The Others yesterday and finished today. Had pizza. I ate four slices. It was good. So was the movie. The ending was very creepy and one of those ones that I never would have expected. Pat liked it because of Nicole Kidman. Dave was confused because he was away yesterday.

Then the weird stuff happened. It's long so I'll start a new entry.

Mess 5/17/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: Panglossian

It's been... three days since my last entry. I don't usually miss days on here unless I'm out of town but these last few days have been packed with so much shit I'm grateful for the long weekend.

Wednesday was the day of Artsarama and so I spent the majority of my day in the gym with Mr. Sharpe and the rest of us music people rehearsing. I had choir first. As you Ontario students may know, there was an e-mail circulating about a proposed walkout for the 15th. And, as expected, some people decided to follow through, and like last year, some idiot pulled the fire alarm. Right in the middle of choir rehearsal. So we all trooped outside and stood around until they let us back in. A truck came and everything. Amielia said that the driver was the same guy that came when they had to call 911 for Chantell. She had been having trouble breathing at lunch the day before and ended up in the hospital. Devin's Comm. Tech. class was outside near where we were but he wasn't at school Wednesday; he went to the funeral with Pat. Anyway, we finally got back in. We were really pissed because the day of a concert is already stressful enough for Mr. Sharpe and pulling the fire alarm really screws everthing over. Not only that, they charge $600 to $1000 for every false alarm. Bastards.

So I spent the entire morning in the gym, rehearsing first for Choir and then Strings. Not much else happened besides us being pissy about the fire alarm and listening to the Jazz Band rehearse. They were good.

At lunch I hung out, ate, the usual. It was really weird to not have Pat there. Pat, in a word, rocks. I've had this discussion with Jessica recently, and we've come to the conclusion that you just cannot define the extent of how much Pat kicks ass. He just does. He's just Pat, and he rocks. He very rarely misses school so he's this constant figure that's always there, smiling and waving and usually messing around with some sheet music. He is infinitely modest and polite to the point that you wouldn't believe. Pat himself doesn't believe any of us whenever we say that everyone loves him, but believe me, stop anyone in the hall and ask them if they like Pat and if they know him they'll say yes. If they don't know Pat, you have to look at whoever you're with and shake your head disappointedly. He's a talented musician and artist and his ongoing "Clarke Survivor" comic is hilarious. You just can't say enough good stuff about Pat.

Needless to say, many of us are rather lost when Pat isn't there, myself included.

Anyhoo, I missed Science too to rehearse for All-Star band and then got to Math to take my Quadratic Functions test. Oh fun. But it was fun to tease Dana all day, because she lost the bet with Brian. Dana, the Sens fan, made a deal with Brian that if the Leafs won, she'd wear a Leafs jersey the next day, and if the Senators won, Brian would *gasp!* wear a Sens jersey. Well, as we all know, the Leafs won, and Brian and Rob presented her with a very nice Toronto Maple Leafs jersey at the beginning of second period. We all teased her about it all day, saying stuff like, "Hey Dana, how 'bout them Leafs?" and "That blue really brings out your eyes, Dana." It was funny, she took it well. Dana's a smiler like Pat.

Aaaaanyhoo, I got home, we went out and got crutches for Andrea, a new white shirt for me to wear to the concert, and cream puffs as our dessert. I got ready, played a few rounds of cards, and then we set off. I had to be there for 5:45 to get ready with Choir. Half of them were late. Pat was there. It was good to see him. I asked him how he was and he said he was okay, and the funeral service was nice. Anyway we warmed up and people who hadn't seen my newly dyed hair thought it was cool. Including Devin, who showed up midway through warmups. We were in the midst of singing so he just came over, kissed me on the cheek and said he was going to find Ryan. Later he gave me a kind of weird look and said, "So you dyed your hair again." When he met me my hair was still mostly purple. He said it looked good. Anyway I had to run around and set up and stuff, and then we hung out outside for a while wit Pat, Ryan, Mike and Katie. Katie got a hold of my camera and took some funny pictures of Devin and I. They're in the latest photo trip, up now.

The concert went wonderfully well. Devin sat in the front row with his younger cousins. They really brought out the whole family, filled a whole corner. Vickie played in the Orchestra, which is mostly why. He looked so cute with his cousin Julia on his lap. I wish I'd taken a picture of it.

After the first half we hung out in the caf and in the halls, joking around and stuff with friends. Pat had his camera and took a picture of Darcy and I doing the "Buddy Christ" pose from Dogma. I met Pat's dad and, yes, the infamous Lee that Kim keeps talking about. He's damn tall. Big hands too. Anyway, he was nice, quiet though, which Kim says is normal.

Leafs Won! WAHOO NOOCH! 5/14/2002

Communications: Darcy! A given. He was just so great up there.
Treasurer: Dana. A lot of us are obviously a bit disappointed that Dev didn't win, and I know Dana will do a good job... It's just that she's a Senators fan!
DPM: Brett. Of all people. He's such an ass. After school, waiting for the bus, Ryan C. was going on and on about "He can't be DPM, he can't even read!" I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting impeached like Will and Kyle (not Kelso) did this year.
PM: Liz! Rock on Liz. She'll do great. Not a good way to start off your term, with your grandmother's funeral, but council's sending her a card. As Rob put it, "We'll all live now!"

After class I waited for Devin and the look on his face. He was like, "Why? Why did I lose?" I gave him a big hug and let him lean on my shoulder for a while. He knows that most of his grade voted for him, they all told him that. Then he said, "I'm gonna kill Dana." I knew he was joking but I was like, "No, you're not." "She's dead." "You're not killing Dana." "She's dead!" "You're not. Killing. Dana." And then he started off down the hall in search of Dana, me attached to his arm trying to convince him otherwise. Devin practically pulled me halfway across the school until I saw Dana and I was like, "Run Dana! Get away while you still can!" But she stayed, Devin shook hands with her and said "Congratulations. I hate you, but congratulations. What's your mark in Math?"

I waited with him and Erin outside because their bus was late. Erin and I were waving at Lor on her bus. Devin showed me this piece of paper that all these people in his class had signed saying that he should've won and they still love him and everything. It was sweet. Then his bus came and he had to go, so I said bye to him and Erin and went inside.

Erin told me in Science that she and Lor had actually been planning to set Devin and I up. She said that after the Peer Mediation workshop where Devin and I met, he told her that he liked me and she was like, "Hey, I'm friends with Lor. Lor's friends with Jenna. We're so setting you guys up." Devin probably had that shy, nervous, "No way!" response but anyway, Lor got sick when they were planning to do it and by the time she was better enough for them to put their "meticulous plan" into action, Devin and I had already hooked up. Erin did have a hand in it, she gave Devin my e-mail address and my web site address. I found the whole thing incredibly cute and laughed a lot.

I dyed my hair tonight. Malaysian Cherry. It turned out quite nicely. We didn't use all three bottles, in fact, we only used two so I guess I can touch up my roots or something weird like that with the other bottle. I told Casey tonight about it and he was like, "Again? Geez. What colour now?"

Andrea threw out her knee at recess and can't even walk on it. I had to help her in from the car and I've been helping Mom move her around whenever need be and nuking wet towels to put on it. It really sucks because she's supposed to be going on this trip with her class on Thursday. She's staying home tomorrow obviously and Mom is going to take her in to get x-rays or whatever. Dad called and said she might have done something to her cartilige. Dad knows knee injuries, he used to be a runner. Has screws in his knees.

Anyhoo, life's good aside from Pat's grandma, Devin losing and people being dumb enough to elect Brett. Tomorrow, I show off my hair.

Your entries always make me laugh :)

Malaysian Cherry! How unique. I can't say I've ever heard of that one before. I would never have the courage to dye my hair-- I'd end up screwing it up and dying my face instead or something horrible like that.

Take care,

Heh, sorry about Devin, but his reaction was pretty funny.. "What's your mark in Math?" LOL
Oh.. and that note up there, the Running Screws You.. That's absolutely hilarious! [Static Inertia]

devin sounds like such a cutie
i feel for the kid, man
i want to dye my hair damnit
but my mother in her attempt to scare me out of it
told me that if i do my hair will become really, really dry
like when you bleach it
is this true?

My Boyfriend Harbours Cannibalistic Tendencies. 5/14/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: adjuvant

I had a big entry written out and then my computer decided to screw me over and while I didn't have to shut down, I lost the whole thing. Here's the condensed version.

6:20 left in the Leafs game and they're up 2-0. If they win they face Carolina.

AHHH! McCabe! Score! 3-0 Leafs! WOOOOOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!

So anyway today was the elections. We went down and all the nominees sat at the front. I found Devin and he was really nervous. I gave him a hug and looked at his 'speech'. He'd literally written it 30 seconds before we got called down to the gym. Just notes pretty much, and his writing was even less legible than usual. He was really nervous though and kept tapping his foot the whole time.

Heather presented a cheque for $1000 to the veterans from War Amps who came; we always fundraise for them and are the only school in Canada that's been highly recognized by them or something like that. Then they started the speeches. Communications was first. Dylan, Imran, Darcy. The first two were good, but Darcy was amazing.

Let me begin by saying that Jim Carrey is Darcy's idol. That alone should be a warning. Remember a while back when Jim Carrey won an MTV award of some sort for The Grinch and accepted it "telepathically"? Darcy did that. First it was like he was talking to himself and psyching himself up. "Remember, just don't say you don't know what you're doing." At which point Darcy says "I don't know what I'm doing!", the only words he actually speaks during the whole thing. He went on for a while and then realized he was trapped in his mind and decided to do it telepathically. It was hilarious. Darcy is just the best at this kinda thing.

Booyah, the Leafs have most certainly won. 3-0 and it's 3 minutes left. Rock on.

The candidates for treasurer were next, and as he feared, Devin had to go first.

Leafs have it in the bag. WAHHOOOOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOCCCCCCCHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Joseph's 14th career playoff shutout. Booyah.

Sorry 'bout that. Anyway, Devin really didn't do that badly. He kept it short and spoke clearly but he could have really done better if he wasn't so damn shy. It didn't help that Dana went up next and was perfectly composed and smiling when she spoke.

The speeches for DPM were okay. Brett is just such an idiot. 'nuff said.

Chris and Liz went up and did their speeches for Prime Minister and they were okay.

We went and distributed the ballot envelopes after and we dragged Devin along. I told him it would be publicity and he was like, "Screw publicity, I'm not going in there. They'll be like, hey, there's the guy that had to repeat his name 'cause no one could hear him." I told him it was his own fault because he's so quiet. It was pretty much just Katie dropping off the envelopes and me bugging Devin out in the hall. He kept trying to bite my hand, which explains my title. Not the first time he's done that either.

Anyway, eventually we parted ways, he went to Comm. Tech., Katie and I went back to French where we voted and then we had a quiz on l'imparfait. I think I did okay although I think I screwed up on mourir, and they just had to put that verb in like, three times. pouvoir and vouloir too. I hate those two with a passion. Feel the rage. Feel it. Anyway, we got cheese and chocolate 'cause we're doing a chapter on Switzerland. It was good.

It was weird in Strings because Pat wasn't there. Amanda said he had left because his grandmother's viewing was today. I think Liz left right after the speeches too. Still, there was an empty place where Pat's usual smile and wave as he says "Hello Jenna!" is. He might be at school for some of tomorrow at least because tomorrow's Artsarama and we have to set up and rehearse in the gym. The funeral's tomorrow afternoon; Devin's going with Pat.

At lunch we had to go to the "Student Council meeting that's not really a meeting." Turns out Brydon and the Losters got us pizza, so we had a little pizza party and then a lot of us had to take off to choir. I got Devin to come because we're doing actions for "Pizza" and at the end, someone is getting carried away because the line is "We'll keep eating pizza 'till they carry us away" and I figure if Devin can pick me up, then he can definitely pick up Kayla (Darcy's little sister), who was going to do it. I asked him and he said he would, so I brought him to practice. We switched some stuff around so now at the end when we get to that line, Devin has to carry Rhiannon away. It works rather well.

We walked around for a bit, talked to people, discovered the guidance office was closed of all things, went down to the library and sat around on the couches. Devin was supposedly doing his Chemistry lab but instead the two of us just kinda sat around and talked. Katie had her camera and as I've probably mentioned, Devin doesn't like having his picture taken but she made him let her take some pictures of us. I think I blinked at the flash.

In Math, we had yet another review day in which I was bored senseless. Amielia was late and Chantell was gone. Amielia explained that Chantell was having trouble breathing at lunch and had to go to the hospital in an ambulance, and Amielia was just in the office. Chantell doesn't have asthma or anything, but apparently it happened on the weekend too and she passed out.

In Science I had a Chemistry test. Yay. Feel the sarcasm. At about ten to three they announced the election results.

continued...

Nananananananana Ass-Man! 5/13/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: indagate

I was so freaking tired today it wasn't even funny. I realized that when I'm tired I go through several different stages. First there's the Fuck Off, Asshole, I'm Tired stage, in which you don't want to talk to me. Then there's the Haha, Dude, That's Funny stage in which I begin to find the littlest things incredibly amusing. Next is the Intense Delerium or Whee! Look At The Pretty Colours! stage, which, although similar to Haha, Dude, That's Funny is about twice as high in intensity. During this stage I will sit there and laugh for about fifteen minutes even if I didn't get the joke, I will dance, I will say stupid things, I will most likely make the biggest ass out of myself. Following that is the Tired? Me, Tired? No. *yawn* stage in which I will act completely normal other than the occasional yawn. Then there's Hyper Mode, where I go nuts again, and then Okay, Sleep Would Be Good Right About... Now, where the possibilty of me falling asleep right then and there is very high. Usually followed by Sleep.

So this morning I got to school and talked to Pat before class. He's Pat, he's great, he's funny. As I've probably said before, I have yet to find someone who doesn't like Pat. He's just so great all the time. Always smiling, always excessively polite.

Katie and Heather are back from CLAY. I was so happy, Katie's like the other half of my brain. I was complete again.

In French we did worksheets and stuff from our ancient textbooks. Snore.

Strings, I was tired but we rehearsed through everything. I stuck around afterwards and listened to the little ensemble play and they're pretty good. Then I wandered around for a while and sat with Julie for a bit. Went to the Guidance office and finished my Science lab that I'd left at school on Friday. Ooops. Got it done. Hung out more.

During Science I wrote my rant for VOX and Katie called me a hypocrite because I'm ranting on High School Public Displays of Affection, and yet, there's Devin and I... eh-heh. At least we don't make out in the halls like Nickie and Joey. That was pretty much my point: I don't mind PDAs, but just to a certain point. Hand holding, hugs, reasonable kisses. Other than that, get a room. Please.

In Math we had another day to do review for the test and since I was done I was bored, but I helped Jamie and Kim and Éadaoin with theirs so it wasn't all bad. The test isn't until Wednesday... gahhh! I did two investigations and most of the review while at Trent and then it turned out I didn't even need to do one of the investigations and that some of the review questions had changed, so all I did on Friday was the other reivew questions, some of the extra review work, and writing.

I should read more of Return of the King, I'm going very slowly on that. I really want to get to Kushiel's Dart but I won't let myself start another book until I'm done RotK. Gahhh.

Had Choir tonight, it was funny. We were making up actions for the song "Pizza", they were funny. Darcy. Explains everything.

Leo's meeting too. Went swimming at Jack Burger centre in Port Hope. Funfun. Went in whirlpool. Ahhhh. Krista had never been in a whirlpool before, she liked it. Lauren saw this guy who she claimed to have a really nice ass and then she kept looking at him the whole time. The five of us girls were all at the edge of the small pool watching him, and I was laughing. Katie had her eye on the Aquafit instructor. He was cool. He was doing all these jumps and stuff and it was funny to watch.

I'm dying my hair after school tomorrow. I don't think I told Devin. If I did he probably forgot, :-P. Even so I'm not going to tell him and just see what happens. I know he likes my hair. Even when it was purple.

I have to go, it's almost 11 again.

Concert Wednesday, ahhhh! Will take pics.

Oh and when I'm tired, I'm in a "I'm tired so don't talk to me because I won't listen anyway and I think I'm gonna fall asleep right about...now." LOL.
Take care, Jenna.

shows of public affection hmm, i'm really not good at that. i'd go as far as holding hands, yes, but even little kisses make me all embarrassed. heh. so yeah, yay for your rant! *waves pom poms* and yay, dying your hair again! neat! ...why are men so forgetful? -_-` [lazycowgirl]

What, you don't like watching people play tonsil hockey in the hallways? *scratches head* I can't imagine why.
I'm usually in the Haha, Dude that's funny stage because I get, like, 4 hours of sleep a night. But then again, everything's funny no matter how much sleep I get. In 9th grade I was the only one that laughed at my Wash. state history teacher's lame jokes. And those were bad. :) [Ms. Spunky]

I Know Where You Go When You Wanna Fall 5/12/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: memento

Today being Mother's Day, we made Mom breakfast in bed as is tradition. Also as is tradition, we ate her toast. I went outside to get some daffodils from the garden and it was raining. What fun. The weather's been dank and wet all day.

We went to Grammy's house today with Dad and Julie, and William too, letting Mom stay home and relax. We went out to lunch and I had cheese capaletti, which is very very good.

Mom and I bought three boxes of Natural Instincts Exotic hair dye in Malaysian Cherry. Why that much hair dye? Because I have that much hair. It's almost down to my waist. When I did it purple I got 2 boxes and that was barely enough, so I got three just to be sure. Maybe if Daniel wants we'll use the rest on his hair. Gonna do it sometime this week.

Katie and Heather are back from their leadership conference and Casey is back from his band trip to Toronto. Yay, we're all back! Nooch.

Over at Devin's on Friday I learned that his Uncle Bill is dying. He has cancer. They thought they got it a while ago but it's back and has spread. Devin's going to visit him on the long weekend I think. His mom said I was welcome to go with them but I think Dad wants to take Andrea and Daniel and I to Toronto that weekend, I dunno. If Devin asks me to go I might.

The concert is on Wednesday and I'm getting anxious. Gahhhhh! Each group has to report to the music room at a certain time so I have to be there at 6:00 for Strings. I'm in three groups: Strings, All-Star Band and Choir. Lotsa running around for me. Devin's coming. I'll have to keep reminding him; he has a tendency to forget things.

The Leafs game is on. So far they're winning I think. 3-2 I believe. Domi got hammered at one point and I think he's out for a bit. Nice gash on his head.

Andrea's getting pissy because apparently she's expecting Adam to call her. Whoop-de-do, Basil, what does it all mean? I think I'll finish up the chapter I'm reading and go take a shower.

How About A Tactical Nuclear Strike? 5/11/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: uxorial

Title's from the Simpsons. Hehe, fun.

I realized that I haven't been to bed before eleven at all this week. Monday I was up late, I didn't get to bed until after midnight at Trent, Thursday was ER, and last night I was at Devin's until eleven. We finally got to hang out for a while.

We'll start Friday morning. In French it turned out we were watching Shrek. En Français, of course, but it was still funny. I got my Quand J'Étais Petite assignment back and I got 19/20 on it. Booyah.

In Strings I gave Dave Woody the Anger Management Fish and he had great fun beating the shit out of it, just like you're supposed to.

At lunch I got myself a salad and bought Anita fries because she'd forgotten her lunch and I don't let friends starve. We were traumatized because the pop machine that used to be in the upstairs hallway is now downstairs in the cafeteria, of all places. Anita was so lost; she usually sits against the pop machine while she eats. *sniff*

Turns out that nobody else is running for secretary so I don't have to campaign. Nooch. I just have to make a speech on Tuesday, which shall be easy. I continue to bother Darcy by telling him I have to hear his platform first every time he asks if I'm going to vote for him for Communications. Really, I am probably going to vote for him, it's just fun to bug Darcy.

Later at lunch I went to Mrs. Loster's room for Math help. Devin had found me by then and was trying to help me figure stuff out but it didn't exactly work, but Mrs. Loster showed me how to do it and I got it. I feel special. I did almost all the work for while we were away and it turns out they hardly did any of it and the test is moved to Wednesday. GAHHH!

Science; Rob, Kim and I did the lab that we'd missed. It was okay, kinda boring. We used hydrochloric acid but it was boring just putting drops in and counting how many. We were testing antacids. Tums and Rolaids.

After school the plan was that I would go over to Devin's house at five. I kind forgot that Mom and Andrea were in Toronto because Andrea had an appointment at Sick Kids, and traffic was horrible and they didn't end up getting home until 6:30. I tried calling Devin once Andrea had phoned to inform us that they were on their way, but the line was busy. Gahhhh. Eventually he called me and told me I was a jerk and I told him that he was the jerk for talking on the phone with Pat too long so I couldn't call him. We yakked for about half an hour until Daniel told me that he needed the phone to call Ryan so Dev said to just come over whenever.

We brought Andrea and Daniel to the dance at the town hall and then Mom brought me to Devin's. I stayed until 11, as I said. We hung out, cuddled, watched Nadesico, which is very cool, and ate pizza. I made his arm fall asleep a couple of times. It was very nice, just the two of us. At one point we were just standing there hugging and I was half on tip-toes, and all I could really think of to say was "I feel really short." It was a really nice evening.

So I had this job interview this morning and I got the job at Mr. Sub. I wasn't near falling asleep during the interview but orientation in the afternoon was hoorible. 3 hours of stuff. GAH. Mom and I went to the church yard sale after the interview and I found this serving tray that goes with the mouse pad Dad's Julie gave me a while ago and I bought it. We got some plants and lamps and picture frames and talked to people from church, it was cool. Mom and I went out to lunch at Wong's Chinese place, it's a pretty new restaurant. Nice. Went shopping, bought new underwear. Finally got new bra. Went to orientation. Boring. Get paid for it though. Don't start until after long weekend.

Going to Grammy's tomorrow. Mother's day. will make mom breakfast in bed. dad's julie might be coming to trenton, not sure.

Talking in fragmented sentences because I must go to bed. Once again, is 11 PM. Night guys.

Back Once More 5/9/2002

I'm back from Trent. It was great. The food was awesome. I had fun.

I can't stay, I have to go call Devin (it's our one month anniversary and I said I'd call him when I got home anyway) and then we're going to The Pines to see their play. They're doing "The Hobbit". Should be okay. I think some of Andrea's friends are in it.

Later.

Let's Go Down To A Normal Town 4/7/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: barbican

Okay, TOD is being painfully slow and horrible so I'm writing this in Notepad.

I've decided to change my diary name to Jenna D., seeing as that's how I'm known everywhere else on the 'net. Continuity. 'sides, you all know Jenna's my real name anyway.

This morning I went to church and Nancy signed my volunteer work form. It was a good morning.

Daniel had a hockey game this afternoon and they lost 3-1. It didn't help that Daniel scored on his own net. Yup. Poor guy. It was a complete accident, he just went for the puck and it hit off his stick and right past Kellen. He stood there, kinda shocked for a few moments and when he was sitting on the bench he had his head down for a while. Needless to say he got a hug after the game. So this means they have to play again on Friday to see who wins the "C" champs... if they'd won today's game they would have had it and not have had to play on Friday. *sigh*

I went over to Devin's today. *grin* Not for that, you idiots. We hung out and watched movies with Pat and Kyle. Moulin Rouge! and part of Thirteen Ghosts. Moulin Rouge! kicked ass. I had to leave not even a quarter of the way through Thirteen Ghosts so I dont really know what happens. All I know is that the ghosts don't have a motive of any sort whatsoever. At this point. Anyway, we laughed a lot, made fun of this guy Ryan's parents (really, you don't want to know them or him), and ate Pizza Nuggets. Devin gave me the grand tour of his house and he's not exaggerating when he says his room is smaller than the bathroom. His dog is a nutbar. :-) Devin and I hugged before I left.

Cut it out Nom, I can hear you awwwing and giggling from here.

Anyway, the whole thing was last night I was talking to Devin on MSN and he said, "In case you haven't noticed, I like you (god I feel like I'm in grade 1 or something)". I had kinda suspected it... I mean, people don't start kissing ass for nothing. But really, I was genuinely flabbergasted when he told me. I honestly did not know what to say. He said it was okay and I didn't have to reply right away on whether or not it was mutual and I said I'd sleep on it... I'm thinking it is though...

Okay Nom, really, be quiet. I know it's you.

So yeah. I dunno. Maybe I do. *grins semi-sheepishly* Not to suddenly pull the attention off me or anything, but my mind strays to Katie. This reminds me eerily of the situation at Pumpkinfest, where she was rather attached to Tom but then it turned out he liked Anita, and the feeling was mutual. Needless to say, Tom and Anita are together now. I kinda wonder how she'll feel. Quite frankly I think she's much too forward with everyone, not just guys. As subtle as a brick in flight, as my mother would say. I know she's a bit ticked at Anita right now for some reason. I was talking to her Saturday about Anita's skating carnival that I couldn't make it to (dammit) and Katie said, "Even though I'm a bit ticked at Anita right now I still wanna see her skate." I didn't ask what it was about though. Katie's birthday party is on Friday and Devin is invited too... *sigh* I dunno. We shall see. I'm not going to bring it up with her.

I must be off now, it's 11:10, when it should be 10:10... damn Daylight Savings Time...

I'm Not Gonna Stand Here And Wait 5/6/2002

continued...

In the morning we had breakfast and cleaned up, then took off back to Kinark. We put away the equipment and leftover food, and all of our own stuff, then had some free time before lunch. Lunch was pizza bagels, very good. Sat with Jessica and the gang again. Found out that the Leafs had won and told them that we'd eaten snails, bugs and frog legs on the trip and that Kim had caught a squirrel but wouldn't share it. Kim slept in a tree, I slept in a canoe tethered to the tree and everyone else slept in floating tents on the lake. We had bacon, but that was only because we killed the pig ourselves. All lies, obviously, but these guys were so cute 'cause they believed us. We had bracelets that Krista had made and told the girls that we'd gotten cooties in the woods and now we had to wear these so people would know we had cooties and wouldn't catch them from us. Teased Kim about Nick more. Jessica's going to be a bridesmaid at their wedding. :-P

We did the rock wall climbing and high ropes after lunch. I rocketed up most of the rock wall and then was like, Okay, now what... took twice that amount of time figuring out what to do before I got to the top. The high ropes was more interesting. I stood there, half on a rope ladder, half clinging to a beam thinking of my next move. Just barely hit the top. Woo hoo! Nooch.

We had a snack, told more lies about survival camp and then got everything out to the buses. One of my girls had lost her boot and jacket and was very upset, lucky she remembered me and asked for help. We found the jacket but I don't know if she got her boot because we were on different buses. I helped some girls with their luggage and settled in.

The girl across the aisle from me had the most annoying voice ever. Worse than Sugar's on YTV. She was loud and whiny. Every five minutes was "I have to go pee!" and "How much farther?" and her laugh was the worst. Gahhhh! I couldn't even write, it was so loud. People in the back were singing and threatening Barney if they didn't get suggestions. Gahh.

Got home around 6, Mom took Kim home and then I got back. Took a looong shower, vegged out, caught up, told stories. Went online. Slept. Good.

I won't write much about today 'cause it's late, just that I have a whole shitload of Math to do so I can be caught up when I get back from Trent on Thursday. Gahhh. And I had strawberries in my lunch which Mom specifically said not to share with anyone except Devin, but he wasn't there for half of lunch because he had a doctor's apppointment and I didn't feel like saving any. I'm horribly selfish when it comes to food. Pat's grandma had another heart attack. She's okay, but this one did some damage, unlike the last one a couple months ago which they called a warning. She has to get an angiogram and Pat has lots of relatives coming down now. Choir was fun, Darcy was making faces at Julia and I and we couldn't concentrate. Fun. I'm off to Trent, see you guys in three days.

And They Say That A Hero Will Save Us 5/6/2002

WORD OF THE DAY: hermitage

I love the song "Hero" by Chad Kroeger from Nickelback and Josey Scott from Saliva. Bradford How calls them NickelSpit. Hehe.

Well, the weekend was fun. Except the buses. They decided to do the buses in alphabetical order and there were three of them. Heather was on one, I was on the second, and Kim was on the third. I swear they did it on purpose. I was bored out of my skull the whole way up. Slept some. Wrote some, but the roads got really bumpy. About five minutes before we got in I came up with the idea for a song so I started writing it, and then just before I put in the last couple lines, my pen ran out. AHHHH!

When we got in I found Lorna, my good ol' Pathfinder leader from so long ago... well, last year and the two years before, but still. I told her of my predicament and she sympathized, then put me in charge of a group of ten girls they were calling the Rabbits. Kim got the Owls and Heather got the Porcupines. There were other groups too and we all spread out and got them together, then took them to their cabins. Stupid me has very little sense of direction in the outdoors and brought my girls to the Owl cabin, then discovered where the Rabbit Hutch was and had to have my girls drag all their stuff down there. I helped, I'm a good leader. :-) I got them settled in and then found my cabin.

All the survival camp people were in one group called the Bears, except for some reason we were in the Beaver Lodge cabin and the Beavers were in the Bear Den. Oh well. The cabins were weird, split in half down the middle with a door on each side. Once again I wasn't with Kim and Heather, but that was okay 'cause I was with Dana and Lisa, who I know from previous stuff. As well were Crystal and Sarah, who I hadn't met before. I didn't like the vibe I got from Crystal very much at Aggie and I still find her a bit bitchy. Heather and Kim were with Sam, Caitlin, Jayne and Danielle, whom I'd also never met before, on the other side. We didn't go to sleep until 12:30 AM, when I finally ran out of words to write (I got a pen from Dana -- my hero!) and turned off the lights. Dana was irked by all the ladybugs on the ceiling and was offering everyone a dollar to get rid of them. Except she didn't have the dollar. So she lived with them.

In the morning we all went to breakfast and I sat with Heather, Kim, and some of the cutest kids in the whole wide world. Kim already had a fan club, as expected, so they were who we were sitting with. There were the twins, Stacy and Darcy, who Kim could tell apart, amazingly, Sibhon, who was in Heather's group, and Jessica, who turned out to be cousin to, of all people, Nick. Yes, Nick, the same one that likes to bug Kim and we like to tease her about. We started calling Kim "Nick" the whole time. Got the kids in on it, it was great.

After lunch we met up with Krista, one of the Kinark staff who would be taking us on the survival trip. We did some trust and teamwork exercises and map and compass stuff, prepared the food and gear, and took off. Found the place okay. No portaging, unfortunately (or is that fortunately? Hmm...) but still. My shoulders hurt. We got settled in and stuff.

We sat around the campfire until 10:00 at night talking. Turns out Dana's family is buying Lauren's llama. I told Lauren this when I got back and she said to make sure they don't change Thomas's name or they're dead. Okay. Around 10 we all decided to sleep.

Heather is suing the makers of the crappy A-frame tent we slept in for ten million dollars because the side kinda fell in on her at night and she was soaked. I was on the outside too. I had to get up four times in the night to go pee, because I was drinking so much water all day, and each time I was colder than the time before. Gahhhhh. I couldn't snuggle closer to Jayne either because of her stupid air mattress that took up too much room, so no warmth for me. Enter warm thoughts of beaches, ovens, hugs and Devin.
