POCKY!!!! SAVE DUO!!!!!!! 8/28/2002
WORD OF THE DAY: valourous
I'm Baaaaaaaaaack from CNAnime!!! Actually, I was back a while ago but was too lazy to write, so yeah. I shall now. Most of this is in some kind of order, but some of it probably isn't.
Heather's dad picked me up just before ten on Friday to take us over to Ryan's house, where we'd be meeting Devin and his sister, who was driving us in. They had the Jeep and there were six of us, not including Jenny. Meaning four people squished in the back, and Sean in the trunk. Not fun. Luckily, she drives fast so it wasn't a long ride. What wasn't fun was that we got dropped off at the Finch subway station, so I had NO idea where we were or how to get to Dad's house, or TVO, from there. So I phoned Julie. She told me that Heather and I should take a cab to TVO, so I wouldn't be late for the shoot, and to put one of the guys on the phone so she could explain how to get to the house. I held out the phone and asked who was going to take charge. Silence. Eventually Ryan took the phone, and Heather and I left.
We caught a cab on the corner and went to TVO, at Yonge and Eglinton. There went twenty bucks. Went inside, went upstairs to the fourth floor, and met Maria, the producer. We sat for a bit, and I called Dad. He came upstairs for a while and then we left for the shoot.
The school they booked was way out in Scarborough, which was rather odd. But alas. The school was HUGE. Three floors, and it sprawled... had to be ten times the size of Clarke. I was scared. We generally stayed in one or two hallways. It was long and repetitive.
Dad picked us up around 4:30 and then we went and got groceries. Bagels, apples, eggs, waffles, yummy stuff. Went home. The guys were out, they'd gone to the convention and bought the tickets (after waiting in line for two hours) and then gone to the Silver Snail. Heather and I didn't feel like going out so we just hung out, watched TV, ate. We ordered pizza and the guys got back just after it arrived. Turns out they didn't know that the TTC only accepts exact change (even thought I TOLD them repeatedly) and they walked the whole way back, from the convention (Front street) to Silver Snail (Queen West) to Dad's house (off Queen East). Gyah. So they were tired and rather hungry when they returned.
At eight thirty, Heather, Dad and I took off to Union Station to pick up Casey! Dad dropped us off outside while he went to park, and we went inside to wait. We goofed off, as usual, and continued to after Dad came in. We wandered around for a bit and then went back to the arrivals area to wait for Casey. When he came in I gave him a hug and we went to the car. Outside we saw some cosplayers. Heather knows who they were, I can't remember. There was a chickie in an orange jumpsuit, if anyone knows who that'd be. From one of the Final Fantasy games, I think. Anyway, we got home, ate, watched movies, etc.
The guys were so horrible when it came to sleeping. There's five of them, so with the pullout couch, the other couch, and a double air mattress, that's five places to sleep. Yet there was his Pat in his quest to make sure everyone else was fine, Devin and his jerk-ness, and everyone's seeming aversion to sleeping with someone. Eventually they got it worked out, with Pat and Casey on the air mattress, Ryan on the couch, and Devin and Sean on the pullout. Heather and I slept in the guest room. Naturally, Casey and Pat had their jokes about their "late-night escapades" on the air mattress.
Saturday morning, they were all. Up. Early. Heather and I were like, what the hell are you doing?! And went back to bed. Eventually we got up. Dad and Julie put out the breakfast food on the dining room table and we went at it. Katie arrived around ten, and, starving, had some waffles. Then the cosplayers changed. Devin was Nicholas D. Wolfwood (Trigun), Ryan was Vash the Stampede (Trigun), Katie was Devil Hunter Yohko (from, ah, Devil Hunter Yohko :-P), and Heather was Tifa Lockhart (FF7). I had my wizard hat. Pictures were taken, jokes were made, and we were off.
But not before a setback. We were short a ticket. There was much debate and little progress, but in the end, Pat was out forty bucks. Not good.
Took the bus up. Went in, stood around for a bit. Katie, Heather, Devin and Ryan (who, as a group, shall be referred to as The Cosplayers) were pulled aside for the first of many pictures to be taken that day. The line for tickets was loooooong and there were several cosplayers in it. Pat spotted a chickie dressed up as Celine (from what show, I can't remember) and was enamoured from the start. He went and asked if he could take her picture, and came back and said she was soooo sweet and nice and just rambled on for a long time. There was still the issue of the ticket. Pat and a couple of the others went back to Celine, who was further up in the line, and she let them in behind her or something, but either way she helped them get the ticket faster, and then all day, whenever we saw her, we'd be like, "It's Celine!" and Pat would be like, "Ahhh, she's so nice!"
Went upstairs. People had pictures taken again. But one of the first things we saw was... Heero. And Duo. Together. Duo with a scythe. A Very Cool Scythe, with little chibi heads painted on one side and on the other, "Show your support: Yaoi." Katie and I were in love. We took a picture of Heero and Duo together. They were so cute!

WORD OF THE DAY: babblative
CNANIME TODAY! AHHHHHHH!
Hehe. It's 7:19. I went online to wake myself up a bit before I shave my legs... or else they'd be a mangled bloody mess. I dyed my hair red last night. Sally Po fell through thanks to our lack of a car, so I'm bringing my purple wizard's hat. Wheeeee!
I'll take pics and tell ya all about it when I get home!

I Command You, Ralphie-Bot, Make Me A Sandwich! 8/21/2002
WORD OF THE DAY: paean
I feel so.... blah right now.
Has anyone else been getting strangely large e-mails from people... in Spanish? They're like, 318K and occasionally from people you know. My sister and I have been getting them for a while now and they're becoming reeeeeeeeally annoying.
I switched yesterday's shift with Heather so now I'm working today. Only 4:30-7:30 so it won't be bad. After that, I have until Monday off. :-D
Yeah, 'cause of the Anime Convention. Mom said if she got the van by then she'd drive us in Thursday night but we won't get it until next week so we'll be taking the train. Ahhhhhhhhh I'm so excited!!!!!!!
And Casey's coming down again! After the convention, he's coming back to Newcastle with us and staying until Tuesday, which kicks.
I'm going to be sixteen soon! In... 12 days! Wheeeeeeee!
I finished revamping most of my web site. Go seeeeeeeeeee. I still need to do the pictures though. Some of them still have the second last layout on them. The Limp Bizkit one. Gyah. I gotta work on that....
Oh yeah! I got tipped THREE DOLLARS on Monday. Three bucks! And no one else was on at the time, except the managers, who don't take tips, so I didn't have to split it. Scoreness!
It was so cute on Monday. Tina was like, dead tired 'cause this was her sixth shift in a row. But then her Dad came and brought her spaghetti! It was spaghetti night at her house and she was missing it 'cause of work so he brought her some. After that she was all happy and smiley. Her and Chris and I talked about hijacking the X-Box truck out in the parking lot and then selling all the stuff on the black market and making tons of money.
I just realized that today is my last shift with Chris. Awwwww..... Damn. Chris is so funny, I love working with him. And since he's leaving, and Bert hasn't found another assistant manager, I don't get my fucking birthday off. As you know, it's on Labour Day, which is always busy. AHHHHHHHH! But I get to pick my shift. I told Bert to give me the shortest thing earliest in the morning, so I have the rest of the day to do whatever I want. And then he owes me time off, so if I go to Snow Jam, he has to give me that weekend off. So ha.
That's about it.

I haven't been getting any e-mails in spanish. Why don't you just block the people that send you that stuff? About tips. You have to split it with other people? That's kinda stupid. You should get to keep ALL the tips that YOU get. But that's just me.

Bah 8/18/2002
WORD OF THE DAY:
I'm busy and tired and don't feel like writing. I'm alive though.
Blueberry social today. It was nice. Pat was bitter because the keyboard was too short and he didn't have enough keys to play the songs he wanted properly. But he discovered the accordian thing on it and started playing stuff from Amélie. The food was excellent.
Daniel is watching Men In Black. Hehe, good movie.
Last night Sean and Heather showed up at my house around eleven again. I did the usual, throwing on my jeans and bra and not taking off my pyjamas and took off. We ran into Rob, Brian and Derrick and stood around talking to them, even though we never do regularly. Heather said she'd seen them like, four times that night. Rob had gotten a mosquito bite on his ankle and mauled it, so there was a good amount of blood there. He also had these green plastic kiddie sunglasses that were somewhat broken but he carries them around anyway, which is a completely Rob thing to do. After a few minutes we parted ways and Sean, Heather and I headed down to the park, where we proceeded to do the usual: hang out on the swings, make sexual comments, yak about everything. Heather and Sean have girl talk, 'cause Heather's mom says that whenever Heather's on the phone with Sean, she sounds exactly like she does when she's talking to Anita. Sean's not really overly effiminate or anything, he just gets it, ya know?
I got in around midnight and Mom came into my room when she heard me talking to Andrea, and said that she didn't even hear me come in. I'm rather stealthy, hehee.
We're getting the van, wahoo!
I'm redoing my website. Well, sort of, just upgrading the current layout 'cause I like it.

Amelie!!! I loved that movie!! Ah, it makes me happy just to think about it again. Now I have to go rent it. *grins* [Ms. Spunky]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi, this is Anna. My diary, .abstract thinking., got deleted. There has been a hacker here on TOD and thousands of diaries have got deleted, and unfortunately, I'm one of those. But this is my new diary - my new beginning. Hope to hear from you soon, Anna xoxo [the phoenix feather]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RYN: Suckiness in a jar times a billion. Man, I had everything in that diary. Some stupid cwunt just goes and deletes it for the fun of it. ARGH. But, I'm trying to stay positive. New starts are good. :) Also, I am feeling beyond ashamed that I've got worse and worse as a noter-summer just gets on top of me. First the traveling (London, Spain etc.), then the floods...I do hope you're OK. *glomp* [the phoenix feather]

WORD OF THE DAY:
I cut my thumb at work yesterday. I was slicing tomatoes and the slicer thingy is this platform with a set of horizontal blades and a pusher thing so you put the tomato between the two and shove it through the blades and get a nice stack of tomato slices. Well, I was putting a tomato in and hit my thumb on one of the blades... and GOD did it HURT and BLEED like a BITCH. Of course, me with nine years of Girl Guides and basic first aid training completely forgot what to do. I stood there sucking on my thumb waiting for Jodi to get off the phone, at which point she instructed me to put it under running water, which I should know to do. And then she started freaking out a bit, in that way only Jodi can.
We had no antiseptic of any sort in our pathetic first aid kit, so with my thumb wrapped in paper towel and still bleeding, we went over to Tim Horton's and stole theirs. Jodi got out the gauze pads when we returned and put one on, and it was still bleeding later. By then my first aid knowledge had kicked in and I took over. Stuck another gauze pad on it and taped it up. Then I had to take cash while Jodi went to find someone to come in for me. It was just me, her and Rebecca. Erin came in. I called Mom over at Wendy's and she freaked out a bit. I punched out and went over there and Ryan M. drove me home. (Isn't this great, I get rides home from the class valedictorian. Hehe.) He was going on about his perogies he's made for lunch and how he had to drive and eat. I thanked him profusely.
The sad thing was I wasn't even at work an hour yet. Holy shit.
I sat around all day, watched Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, and then went to Katie's in the evening to hang out in the hot tub. Hot tub fuuuuun. We were playing pool in the basement and listening to Moulin Rouge! music and Katie and I were doing the "Elephant Love Theme" thing. I was Christian and she was Satine and we were acting it out and dancing around and Sean and Ryan were like, umm.... okay. Got in around 11:15.
Everything seems to be going off pretty well for the anime thing. Still haven't gotten money from Pat or Devin yet. It's gonna be good though.
Today work was blah. I was on cash mostly. I slept late (well, if 9:15 is late) and Daniel had to wake me up to say that Mom was on her way to pick me up for my 10:30 shift. I was just getting my shoes on when she got there, only had time to take my meds and go. No breakfast. Luckily I was there early enough to get a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese for breakfast. (Oddly enough, upon talking to Mom later, I learned that his is her usual breakfast as well.) Worked until three. Not much happened.
So yeah, not much.

Well that must have hurt. I know this guy who worked in a grocery store and had to use exacto knives to slice boxes open. At one point he stuck the knife in his back pocket while he wasn't using it, but him, being the brainiac that he is, forgot to close it before putting it there. When he went back for it he ended up SLICING his thumb open. Very gross. [Static Inertia]

I suppose I have no excuse not to write right now. I have been working waaaaay too much and we still don't have a car. I barely got into work last night. I was supposed to start at three, but couldn't get a ride, so Chris came and picked me up for 3:30. Those guys are fucking lucky I make it in at all some days. Most of the time I'm in EARLY because that's when my ride is. I end up sitting around upstairs for an hour or maybe they'll start me early. Gyahhh.
Other than that.... nothin' much. I need a shower.

My Show, My Rules, Are You In Or Not? 8/8/2002
WORD OF THE DAY: cerebral
Gyyyahh... It's been a long couple of days.
On Tuesday we went out and I got The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring on video, then I watched it with Mom and Daniel, who hadn't seen it yet. Oh man, it was still so amazingly beautiful and such a kickass movie, I fell in love with J.R.R. Tolkien's story and Peter Jackson's vision and Howard Shore's music all over again... and ogled Legolas, of course. :-D Daniel was afraid the Ringwraiths would give him nightmares, and kept telling me to warn him when a freaky part was coming up. After a certain point I told him pretty much everything would be freaky. He thought Legolas kicked ass, especially the part when he takes the arrow, stabs an orc in the face with it, then brings it back and shoots the next guy. Sweet. Daniel also laughed at me when I cried because Gandalf fell off the Bridge of Khazad-dum. I know he makes it, but it's Gandalf! I cried the first time I saw it and then again when I read that part in the book, but still. Mom loved it too, she was going on about the colours and the music and the landscape. New Zealand is beautiful. My favourite place in the movie is Rivendell. Ohhh LOTR. It owns you.
Wednesday morning we went out shopping looking for stuff for me to wear to the anime convention. I'm planning on going as Sally Po from Gundam Wing. We found a shirt but I still need the vest and boots. There was a nice pair of combats at the Salvation Army but they were three sizes too small for me. Suckerbitch!
Afterwards we went home and Mom took Daniel out to Oshawa 'cause he had this assessment thing for his surgery next week. (He's getting tubes in his ears again.) I was online and around four I got off to get ready for work at 4:30. There were messages from Mom saying that the car had broken down and she was waiting for a bus. I called back on the cell and told her I had to work, 'cause she'd forgotten. Told me I'd better call work and tell them I'd be late and then find a ride. I did that, then tried phoning Julie's place. Busy. So I frantically called Heather's place. I knew she was out but her dad is just so great he drove me into work. I swear, you gotta love Mr. Dunlop, he drives people places. I got to work 10 minutes late. Stayed ten minutes later afterwards. Robbie, a guy from Wendy's mom knows, drove me home.
That night I got back and the other three were out. Gone to the hockey dance. Well, Grandma called and told me to tell Mom that "It's a boy." My cousin Vicki had a boy who she and Josh named Ethan Jacob. He was born around 3:30 and weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. According to Aunt Joyce's e-mail Mom got this morning, the new grandparents still haven't come down from Cloud 9. :-D
According to the guy at the garage Mom brought the car to, it can't be fixed and the car is garbage. The front brake line is shot. So no car for us. And we haven't been approved for the Saturn yet so we don't have any rides anywhere. Andrea has to go to Sick Kids tomorrow for her usual monthly checkup and Mom called Dad this morning to ask if he could come out and pick them up; he goes to Sick Kids with them anyway. Luckily I'm not working. Gyah.
Today I had to work again. Renee from Wendy's drove Mom and I in and Faye drove us home. I talked to Kyle before I left 'cause he was just coming in. Told him about the car and stuff.
I was on cash today! We have a combo-upsizing contest thing... whoever sells the most combos in the allotted time gets a prize. Movie passes or something. Jodi reminded me of it the other day and Bert asked how many I'd sold and I was like, "Um... none? I'm never on cash." So I was on cash part of yesterday and today and sold about 15-20 combos. So go me. I won't win but it's nice to be on cash for once.
Anyway, gotta go.

WORD OF THE DAY: purfle
Sooooooo I've kinda been ignoring TOD for a while, sorry guys. I've been doing stuff. Just hanging out, things like that. I went to Pat's place for the first time the other day and met his "Chats Lunatiques." Well, two of them anyway. I believe he has four. Charlie's antisocial and really skinny, and Jenny looooooves people and according to Pat is a slut 'cause she lies there on the floor with her legs open. LOL, slut cat. Then we went to Devin's house and watched Resident Evil. It was me, Heather, Ryan, Pat, Emily and Devin and that shitty movie. I didn't like it very much. It was well done but I'm not into that kind of stuff.
Then last night I went out again and hung out at Pat's until 1:30 AM with him, Ryan, Sean and Katie. Usually I have to be home by midnight but we couldn't get a ride home until around then, and I told Mom that so it was all good. I read Pat's palm and actually got through an entire reading. It takes me so long to go through the whole book, while Pat's tarot card readings take like, five seconds, but I finally did it. And Pat said it was pretty accurate too. I feel special.
Pat's making this RPG on Playstation called "The Ascension of Foy." Ms. Foy is our Principal. We're all in it. Devin's a mage, Heather's a swordswoman, Pat's an organist, Amanda's a sorceress, Katie's a noblewoman, Sean's a traveller, Lisa's a harlot, Ryan's some weird warrior guy, I'm an alchemist and Casey's a bandit. And we all live in the town of Clarke. The story hasn't gone very far yet but pretty much we're talking to Liz (Pat's sister) at a festival and she's telling us of when she was exploring the ruins of Weezer she saw this bigass castle... and that's it. It's rather funny because everyone so far is so in character. Most of us haven't shown up yet but we will soon, Pat assures us.
So yeah, good times. Ryan's stopped being so much of a mope. I got called in to work this afternoon... 5-9. Tina's sick. Bah.......

You have to be home by midnight. I have to be home by 7pm. Oh, the injustice of life... [.abstract thinking.]

Everyone who ever told me about Resident Evil highly recommended it, but in my own honest opinion I was never really into it.
RYN: Ok so Pat doesn't know that you know. Gotcha. [Static Inertia]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RYN: I've never actually SEEN the movie, people just recommended it to me. But then every time the commercial would come on I'd be like "Uh... I'll pass." [Static Inertia]

Hey, Thanx for the note! Moulin Rouge Kicks Ass- i love it. I really like your diary, very nice. I hope can be friends, lots of love me.
I am [The Star of the Show]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RYN: Yeah, I live in Prague, which is the capital city of the Czech Republic, so it's pretty big and busy. And the "curfew" is ridiculous and embarassing and etc and etc. I could go on for hours about how unfair it is, but I'll spare ya. My mum is overprotective and paranoid, and I can't seem to convince her to relax a little. SIGH. And what do I do? Hang out with friends in the afternoon... [.abstract thinking.]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
cont. It might sound sad, but what am I supposed to do? I mean, I've tried talking to my parents a billion times. It's not working. And it's not like a punishment eithet, I'm a good student, fine at home, I'm not one of those rebellious teenagers... I don't get it. Actually I went to the cinema with a friend not long ago and I got back at like 8:30pm, which was A World Record for me... [.abstract thinking.]

Honestly, it sucks beyond words can say. Ridiculous, ridiculous, ridiculous, ridiculous, ridiculous, ridiculous. Sorry. I didn't mean to bore you to death like this with my rambles. They always seem to get the better of me... ;) Do you have any suggestions though? Any ideas? Maybe coz I'm 15 now, and I'm starting "high school" (the Czech equivalent), it'll get better...who knows? Rock on, [.abstract thinking.]

Heya, I've just noticed something:
I am mega totally completely just so honored to be one of "your stars" :), but...ahem...you missed out the first dot in my user name
Lol. Sorry. I'm a nit picker. :O ;)
Nooch on, [.abstract thinking.]

Guess who? *grins*
I've been ignoring TOD alot too, surprise, surprise. Anyhoo, just dropped by to see how things are with you... and it seems like it's all systems check, eh? Take care then Jenna, I'm gonna have to dash, cos my videocard died on me, and I'm looking at a very blurrish screen. My eyes. Oy. Seeya around. :D [lazycowgirl]

Seems like a lot of people have had a spell where they're ignoring TOD, I have been as well. I have too many favorites, that's what it is, and by the time I get done reading everybody's entries and noting everyone I'm tired and don't feel like writing.

I didn't know that was even a movie. I only thought it was a video game. Learn something new every day...

[.abstract thinking.]
