Turning Further Every Day 3/31/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: limn
Good day to you. Weezer is good.
I finished off the camera from Saturday and if I go out this week I'll have pictures by the weekend. Funfun.
Andrea's appointment at Sick Kids' this Friday was cancelled because of SARS. Oh fun.
There's a buy-out on the tenth to see the annual teacher-student hockey game. Kickass!
Feelin' crappy. Hooray for menstruation.
I've been working on my costume and I almost have the skirt done, except I HATE INTERFACING!!!! DIE! If anyone has any semblance of an idea of what its true purpose is and how to put it around the waist of a skirt, I will love you forever if you tell me.
Oooh, quotes...
Davan: Oh holy shit! Really? I don't think I've ever seen real live hookers before.
Aubrey: As opposed to all the real dead hookers you've seen?

I would tell you, dear, but I'd need to know what the fuck interfacing is, in terms of skirts. Cos I have no clue, no clue at all. Ah damn, SARS! They got to you people too, now it's all we'll ever hear about *goes crazy and dies*. Eh, hope you've been healthy though. Take care [lazycowgirl]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS: I'd like to give a big shoutout to menstruation as well. Thank you for making my day that much easier. :D (( That translates to 'Burn in hell' btw )) [lazycowgirl]

RYN: I'd actually love to get SARS the way my life is headed right now, thanks for the suggestion. ;P [lazycowgirl]

Just To Check Out The Late Night Record Shop 3/29/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: fallacious
Today was Costume Shopping, Day One. Armed with a tight budget (which I promptly blew) and some very good fan art, we went out. Not without setbacks, though.
We planned to meet at my house at 10:30. I called Katie in the morning and it turned out her furnace had died in the night and the repairman was coming so her Mom couldn't leave, could we pick her up? Yup. And then Heather seemed to be missing, so Mom and I went to her house. There was no one there and I think the doorbell's broken because Beau didn't come running to the door. So I went back to the van (because it was raining) and phoned her on the cell. Turns out she'd gotten up around nine and decided to go back to sleep, asking her parents to wake her up. She promptly fell back asleep, they promptly left. So, bitter and disheveled, we made our way out to Kirby to get Katie.
Got to Fabricland, spent almost two hours and $65.32 on fabric, interfacing, thread, zippers and patterns (most of it was the interfacing -- *shakes fist*) and I'm set. Now I just need to figure out how to make it, and go to the hardware store to get chain for my skirt and whip. Also need a belt and some bead-tassel-bell thingies, or whatever they are hanging off Quistis's skirt.
Then we went to the Chinese buffet near the fabric store and pigged out. Enough said there.
Katie's mom picked us up and we went into Bowmanville so Katie could get shoes for work, then we went and saw View From The Top, which was funny. Walked over to the arena where Katie's brother's game had just ended, went home. Goofed off in the van; Heather and I came up with several new ideas for You Shut Up!
I got home and my family wasn't, at Daniel's hockey game in... where the hell is it, anyway?
Bowmanville. Okay. Just got offline to check the messages, they're staying for the next game, which would explain why it's almost nine and they're not home yet.
And now I'm hanging around here. Isn't that lovely.

Inside Out, You Can't Cope, My Gyroscope 3/17/2003
...continuing...
Lauren was pissed because there was supposed to be a Leo's meeting on the Monday (which I couldn't go to because of work), and it ended in disaster. It was supposed to be a bowling night, which means meetings are at 5:30. About seven people showed up, and NONE of them were advisors. Anna, Mr. Willems, and Dorella just didn't show. They reminded Dorella that they were going to be there so she could open the bowling alley, but nothing. And they phoned people, and someone said Mr. Willems would be there at seven. Well, they waited, and nobody showed. She was so mad.
Next meeting was supposed to be an outing, probably to the movies or something, but we were supposed to talk about that at the meeting last Monday. Which didn't happen. Willems apparently told Lauren to just phone everyone, but that won't happen. There are almost 30 people signed up but nowhere NEAR that amount shows up on a regular basis, and Lauren refuses to let people just show up for the fun stuff and not help out with any projects. I told her to just get the attendance records and call the people who show up the most, which could work, but still. Lauren's the President, and she does a lot. It's the same six or seven people that do everything and she's sick of having to load it on them all the time. Which is normal, I get that. And I told her that she should tell Anna and Mr. Willems that she's disappointed in them, that everyone who showed up is, because they're the advisors. We're the ones who are supposed to plan and run everything, but we can't do that without the support of the advisors. Even something as simple as, hm, showing up and unlocking the door on time?! Mr. Willems is the one that lectures on responsibility all the time and then he goes and does that. Apparently they've done it before. Lauren didn't really know how she should say it and I tried to help her out with that. I hope she doesn't just let it go though. I wasn't there, but it still makes me mad.
Aaaanyhoo, yeah. Driver's ed after school. There's nine of us. In-car will be in groups of three, and Steve went and left me for Amanda and Lindsay. No worries though. Rhiannon is in my class, I could ask her to be in my group. I don't know her that well, but if I'm going to be stuck with even one of the other guys in the class, let's just say I'll need someone I know a little bit. Andy and Justin R., and then this guy Neil and some guy named Chris who I've seen around. And it's soooo boring... We have this map project. Draw a map, certain requirements, and this will be the route we follow on one of our in-car classes. Write directions. This will be given to the in-car instructor. Bah.
Aww, and over the break, Bob Willsher died fo cancer. He was a school board trustee and he was really, really nice. He worked really hard for students and was always at events that showcased student talent and hard work like plays and presentations and he was always, always at our concerts, until he got sick. I met him at the awards night last year when I went up to get my honour roll certificate. He told me he'd seen the (now defunct) student council web site and that it looked good. Mom pointed out afterwards that I was the only one he talked to up there. Special. Mom saw him at a lot of the various council meetings she goes to. Dude, he just did lots of good stuff for the kids. I mean really. Flags were at half-staff. The funeral's private but there's a memorial at Clarke on Saturday, which I'm going to. Mr. Sharpe wants to get some choir members together to sing there. I'm so in.

The Wizard Of Magicland 3/27/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: favonian
I had my last day of in-class for driver's ed last night. We had the test and I think I did really well on it. Steve and I were done with half an hour before we were supposed to be done, but she let us go. I was going to call Mom to get me early but Steve was walking and wanted me to come so he said he'd buy me food at Subway on the way. Me, being unable to resist food, left a message for Mom saying that I was walking and we left.
Fuck, walking along the 35/115 on the 3rd concession overpass before the Petro Canada is still fucking scary. I hadn't walked along the highway in ages. The space at the 3rd concession overpass has no parking lots or driveways along it, just a small shoulder and the merge lane. Rather dangerous, but necessary to get off the highway if you don't feel like jumping fences and teetering down hills, which we didn't.
We walked down Mill Street and under the train bridge I told Steve about the cursing thing. Your voice echoes underneath it, so when a car drives under with its windows down you yell FUCK as loud as you can. I don't know if the drivers actually hear you, but it's fun to curse at the top of your lungs. Try it sometime, it's great.
Stopped at Steve's so he could get his rollerblades, got home at quarter to eight. Bah.
Today at lunch the senior Reach team took on the Intermediate team, who for some reason thought they'd be able to beat us. With our "WE LOVE YOU GUYS!" and "NOT DYLAN!" signs taped to the wall behind us, we thwomped them by 170 points. Take THAT, arrogant grade ten assholes! Wheee!
Okay, it was an intermediate pack with "some modifications." Senior or intermediate though, we'd have won. If we suck at the senior ones, how well do you think THEY'LL do?!
Aaaand after school I went to the dentist to get x-rays done so he could look at my wisdom teeth. I got to do the full all-around one, which I hadn't had done since I was seven and getting teeth pulled.
What Dr. Rod revealed was that I have rather fucked up wisdom teeth. Of course, he didn't say it like that, but that's the long and short of it. My top ones are fine, they're coming in straight. But the bottom ones are coming in sideways, pushing against the sides of my teeth, which is causing the crowding. And the right one, well... the part facing us on the x-ray was the top of the tooth. Yup, you heard me. My right bottom wisdom tooth is coming in sideways and facing the front of my mouth. So even though they're not through and typically wouldn't be removed for a while longer, because they're sideways and my teeth have long roots, I have to have them out now, which means the oral surgeon will have to dig them out. How fun is that? (sarcasm, sarcasm) So Mom's going to call to make the first appointment and we'll see what this oral surgeon guy, who's name I can't remember, has to say. Someone Mom works with has to get hers dug out too, and they said about three days recovery. Ahhhhh...
On Saturday, Heather and Katie and I are finally going shopping for cosplay stuff for Anime North 2003. Like I've mentioned before, we're doing Final Fantasy VIII (because Heather wants to) and I'm Quistis Trepe, Heather's Selphie Tilmitt, and Katie's Rinoa Heartilly (partly because Heather and I want us all to match and we're making her. We showed Katie pictures today and she likes it. Mwahah). Pat's not sure if he's coming, but if he does he thinks he might be Zell or Seifer. So Saturday we're heading out to the fabric store to get stuff.
There are two problems with me being Quistis though: she wears pink and she's blonde. The pink thing I can deal with, the blonde thing... I haven't been blonde since I was nine years old. Since then, my hair gradually got streaked with brown until I got pissed off with it and dyed it completely brown in grade seven. It stayed brown. I've dyed it at least four different shades of red since then, as well as the stint with the purple, and now it's brown with the occasional glint of red, even though I haven't dyed it since... I don't remember when. Damn, you know it's been a long time between dye jobs when I can't remember the last one. Heather suggests that I just bleach my hair before the con and then dye it back afterwards but I've always been very leery of bleaching my hair, especially because it's long. Although I would be able to do it blue for once. Which would make Bert freak, LOL. But maybe. It's not 'till May, we'll see. But, of course...
The whip makes up for everything. *wild maniac grin*

And I Swerve Out Of Control 3/22/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: ubiquitous
Today was Bob Willsher's memorial up at school. It was beautiful. We sang and I was almost crying, therefore could not hold any note for more than two beats. And then I got to pull the curtains back from the stage for Mr. McMurray's slide show (mwahah, I am ze curtain girl!). The speakers were great, the food was excellent (Orono Village Bake Shop, always great) and I saw Mrs. Hoy, my grade 3 teacher! And she remembered me! I told her I was in grade 11 now and all the stuff I'm doing and she seemed quite impressed. I think I made her feel kinda old because she taught me eight frickin' years ago. She retired a few years ago and I went to that. I remember Mrs. Hoy actually made math kinda fun. Gasp!
We hung around in the music room for a while, Pat playing stuff from Chicago and Heather, Emily, Julia and I acting like nuts and singing. Much fun.
Worked with Heather tonight. Had a bus in at the start, a few families, and that was about it. Started in on our comedy series, "You Shut Up!" which we've been planning for a while. We're going to start off as a comic, and I'll let you know when it's ready to be unveiled.
I work again tomorrow. Ooooh, fun. Yeah...

Don't forget to let ol' Nom here have a look-see at your new comic/sitcom when it's all ready and done. :) Wow, you curtain girl. And I'm sure, you're the best curtain girl in the business! YEAH!! *sweatdrops* Take care Jenna, [lazycowgirl]

I had the same teacher from 1st-3rd grade and she still remembers me. She was awesome. And I'm not sure...but she still might be teaching. In the same room. Or at least she was in the 8th grade. lol

Haha, my kindergarten teacher still remembers me. That was like 10 years ago...damn, I'm old.
Whoa, I haven't had dinner yet and it's 9:43!
I like your website! It's creative!
I like your diary too! (Agh! I'm so clique and kiss-assish right now!)

It's A Boomerang! 3/20/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: ameliorate
I am eating a big fucking bowl of Chef Boyardee ravioli and I fucking love it. I'm going to feel so sick but I don't care because it's ravioli and I love it.
I fucked up the spelling of "ravioli" five times in that last sentence before getting it right.
Yesterday was our last Reach tournament in Coburg and we sucked as usual. Just beat Port Hope. They're almost all a bunch of jock guys, but they're funny and nice. On the way we saw the Courtice team in a car behind us and we wanted to make a sign, but by the time we were done they were long gone. Too slow and Saitz kept speeding up. So we put up our "WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!" sign to everyone else and waved. We had maybe four people wave back. Then we caught up to the Intermediate team and put up the sign and they waved back, but we realized something and put up another one that says "NOT DYLAN." Because Dylan's fucking annoying.
Coburg has a nice library but apparently the librarian hasn't bought a new book in five years. The layout's nice, with an upper part that's mostly a walkway around, high windows and, of course, lots of student art. There was a painting of Sum 41! And it looked good! There was some Spiritual Machines stuff too, which kicked. And they had buzzers! Alas, we still sucked, but it was a nice day. Somehow we ended up going to Mr. Sub for lunch. Right. Then we went and bought candy.
On the way back we stopped at our travel centre for the traditional after-tourney doughnuts. We went to Wendy's and said hi to Mom first though. Had Timbits. Went back to school. Katie and I went to the last ten minutes of Strings class. Had Driver's Ed. More cheesy movies.
Today was okay, nothing special. Got a Math quiz back with 9 out of 10, which is nice for a change. I would've gotten perfect if I didn't think that 7 x 7 was 14 yesterday... :-P Started meiosis in Biology, had the tacos at lunch (which were kinda crappy), did stuff with molecular model kits in Chem (funfun -- we're doing the molecular model project soon), had Movie Appreciation in Strings because Mr. Sharpe is tired and stressed and generally not feeling well. He's been working hard with the choir because we're singing at the memorial on Saturday, and the Jazz Band for their festival tomorrow, so we watched Shrek.
More cheesy movies in Driver's Ed today.
Parent teacher night today. Saw Mr. Matsusaki, and since I have him for Chemistry and Math, so he asked us which we wanted first: Good news or bad news. Good being Chemistry, bad being Math. I have 88 and 59, respectively. He agreed that, you know, university math is tough, but you've just got to work at it and everything'll be fine. Mr. Sharpe wasn't there, and we talked to Mr. Löster, which is a good thing to do after talking about depressing Math marks because he makes you laugh. We made him write a sentence of our note in Dutch today, it was funny because I almost deciphered it. And we point out all his mistakes, and pick on him... but it's all 'cause we love him. Everyone loves the Lösters. (I lost count of how many of last year's grads put Mr. Löster down as their fave teacher in their yearbook survey.) But yeah, apparently I have the highest mark in the class. Which is 78. Hmm. Marks are generally low because we haven't had a lot of stuff to hand in, and one test. Tests are worth 40%, so that's one thing messing everything up. He said if he took the test out, we'd all have 80s.
Oooh, definitely sick after too much ravioli.
Mmm, tomorrow's Friday. I'm going to work on my map for driver's ed because we have to go to Oshawa to exchange my blouse anyway. Then weekend. I have to be at school at noon on a SATURDAY because of Mr. Wilsher's memorial service. Student council decided to donate $500 to Bowmanville Hospital in his memory, as was the request. The place should be packed.
Sooooo see ya later.

Driving Artfully 3/17/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: sinuous
So I started Driver's Ed today. Apparently we're supposed to drive "artfully", or so my textbook says. But do I really trust anything published in 1985? I mean honestly.
Yup, we're back to school. And progress reports tomorrow. Parent night on Thursday. I wonder, do they deliberately place these events directly after one of the most welcomed breaks of the year just to whip us back into our dreary lives of drudgery chained to our desks? Just to remind us that this is school, and we're here to work and we'd better get good grades or else? *sigh* Probably.
Math still sucks. Must go to Guidance. Will drop to "M" level and make Data Management my alternate for next year, and take Chemistry for sure. Because I loooove Chem. Even though we started bonding today. Which I dislike.
But Biology kicks ass, as I've said. Mr. Löster showed us the marks from Thursday's test, and I got 80%. He said that's one of the highest, if not the highest mark in the class. Kick it.
Strings was very nearly a nightmare. I return to the Music room, go into the studio where the string instruments are kept, and all the cellos are... facing... the wrong... way... Oh-kay... Think nothing of it. Find Swanky, pick him up, and... hear... rattling. Not good. Definitely not good. I started thinking the bridge had popped off, as they have a tendancy to do. So I brought it down, unzipped the case, and a black thing falls on the floor.
A tuning peg.
Fuck shit. I was ticked. ALL the strings were out of tune, and the peg for the D string had come out completely. Rachel's was okay, and I don't know about the other two because Holly and Éadaoin were away. But Lauren pointed out that there were ceiling tiles pulled out, and that stuff in the studio where the basses are kept was moved too. They're fixing stuff and they're going to be painting the Music room this year, so I guess stuff got moved... But I canNOT tolerate disrespect to the instruments. I can accept that they may have to move them, but for Christ's sake, if they have to, treat them like glass! They're fucking delicate!
And NOBODY messes with Swanky. Or Irwin. Once it's my instrument, it's personal.
Well, seeing as putting the D string back in place and tuning the ENTIRE cello took so long (read: most of the class), as well as getting the rest of the instruments tuned, we didn't exactly do much. We finished up the playing tests from before the break (mine being one of them, which I can safely say SUCKED, but not because of the tuning), and sat around talking.
Apparently Pat broke up with Sarah over the break. Said that he'd seen too many relationships between friends end up badly and he didn't want it to be like that with them. Hm.

maybe when they said "drive artfully", they meant for you to be on drugs so everything looks pretty colorful? Math always sucks. but i think science sucks too. i get what you're saying about instruments. when i was in band, the band had no budget and the instrument were kept together with "gum and duct tape". slight exageration, but everything was broken. it sucked... Forty-Two
j.e.: One of the Jessies, I refer to you as "Quiz Bowl Jessie" in order to keep you two straight. Much fun to talk to. And you know what, yes, one day, we will be able to skank. Just wait and see...
Forty-Four
-hammock.bum-: Jessie-of-many-names, I dub thee, for you change it every month. You've had some very nice layouts, kick it. I will still trade places with you if you ever dissect anything again. :-)
Forty-Seven
Ms. Spunky: I admit it, it was the "Ode to Cheese" that got me hooked. And really, you rock, with your Spanish and your ceramics classes and the guys you talk about... and how you were wearing shorts in January... damn you...
Fifty-Nine
This goes to one particular girl who went be several names with several different demeanors, yet I could always discern that she was the same person. And I loved each side. She knows who she is. Miss you, you made me laugh so much.
Seventy-Eight
the phoenix feather: Anna! *hug* You're my #2 Awww-er! (remember that? Oh, it's been so long...) I love you, really. You've always been so supportive even when you were going through rough times yourself and I'm grateful and I hope I did the same for you. One day you'll get to London again and find that happiness you remember... Promise. Heck, we should go together.
Who's loserish enough to leave me over one hundred notes? Three people so far...
One Hundred and Nine
jawbreaker: Ah, my Carribean friend. You realize you're the only pen pal I've had that's lasted for more than one letter? I still have the letters you sent me... they're in my Box O' Lovely Stuff under my bed. Sadly I don't have the bracelet. It broke one day on the bus and I didn't notice until I was halfway down the street. I miss it. I miss you, but I know you're having fun at a party somewhere with one of your guys. Hell, I'm going to write to you again. Because I can.
One Hundred and Sixty Three
lazycowgirl: Norma! *huggletackleglomp* I am a constant reminder to you of how "old" you are, haha. You live farther away from me than anyone I know online but it never seems like it. You're not around as much as you used to be, I know, but that's okay. Honestly, you're one of my best friends here and I love you. You're my #1 Awww-er, and always will be.
Drumroll, please....
One Hundred and Seventy Three
Static Inertia: Deniiiiiise! How much time do you have on your hands, really? LOL. We are so close, yet so far away... Like I said to Chad, one of these days... Ah, dude, you're great. Always there for a hug, which, as everyone should know, I love. I hope you stick around, you're one of the good ones in this cesspool of a web site.

Aww, Jenna! Thanks for that, man. I love you too and like I've said many times, even if I don't update my diary all the time, I still read yours and if you ever need anything at all, you know where to find me :) And btw, The #2 Aww-er is one of the most kick ass titles ever! ;) Take care of yourself! Love you. xoxo [the phoenix feather]

Here's 174.
My god, that's depressing...I really DON'T have a life.
You know what? Chad was just here all weekend. You know what I'm thinking? You should try and get yourself to Warped Tour this summer cuz I'll be there and he'll be there and you can just kill two birds with one stone.
That'd be cool. [Static Inertia]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Chad here, thanks for the kudos. And if you want to come to warped I'll probably be driving through your neck of the woods to get there and would be happy to pick you up. [skachad]

*huggletackleglomp back* Heyy I'm in there :) *special awws* Yea, I'm not around as much, and I wish it weren't so.. but.. Hmm, I don't know, it's all so complicated. Maybe it doesn't have to be though. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'll be back. Maybe. :) *hugs* Love ya girl :) [lazycowgirl]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[skachad]
It's Wonderful, The Underworld 3/15/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: laconic
Did anyone here realize that as of five days ago, I've been here two years?
Okay. Neither did I.
I realized that when I was going through my notes today. I also realized that I have 404 public entries (not counting this one) and four private ones, which is odd, because I haven't written any private entries that I can remember. Probably a slip of the mouse. As well as that, as of 10:40 tonight, 1040 notes.
Over 200 of them are from people I have never formed a real attachment to, usually because a) they are perfect examples of those portrayed in the previous entry b) they just suck c) they disappeared. Another hundred or so are from pretty cool people that I wish I could've gotten to know better. Another bunch are people who I did get to know very well and talked to for a long time, but then they went and left or something.
Then there are the people I worry about.
The top 16 numbers, (16 because all the people worth mentioning are encompassed in those) are, in reverse order, with random blurbs about them, are....
Five
Linus the Great: You kick, as far as I can remember... it's been a while. I do recall a love for the Offspring, and that Dexter Holland is the smartest rock star in the world.
Josh_the_K: "If you disagree with me, you are wrong." Well, I disagree with you on that, but you've got some good stuff. You're a good writer, good at presenting your points and taking the hatred that follows with stride. Keep it up, it's rather amusing.
Six
skachad: Well, you took off from TOD, but I've kept in touch. And we keep missing each other, dammit. We will see each other someday... *shakes fist* We're not that far away from each other. Thanks for rekindling the ska fires of my heart. Always liked it, trying to get into it a little more thanks to you. But I still can't skank.
Punk Bunny/Nail Bunny: I remember you partly because your name is the same as my middle name, partly because I liked the way you wrote. And I wanted to hug you a lot, and I hope that you're doing okay...
unfathomable: I honestly have no idea who you are, but you still exist, and maybe I'll remember one of these days...
Seven
lafosta: Orla! Just getting to know you and you're great. Very funny, I love the escapades with your harp-breaking cousins and everything. You rock.
r.i.v.e.n.: Another I barely remember. From Alberta, right? We talked about how shitty our provincial governments are, because, well, they are. Mwah ha.
Stifled & Stagnant: Don't hear from you very often but when I do it's a ray of sunshine because you're so eloquent without being arrogant and, yes, I love you too.
Twelve
Heather: Your brief stint at TOD gave me 12 notes. Thanks man. You're the only one in real life that knows where to find me here, although I daresay it wouldn't be too difficult if anyone really wanted to. I love you.
Thirteen
Oasis82: I had almost forgotten about you and I'm sorry. You were one of my first friends here, and I thank you. We talked about music and love and many things, and I wish you hadn't disappeared.
Fourteen
dolphersone: You're the only Tiffany I've EVER been able to stand. Congratulations.
Twenty-Seven
maggie*mae: Another one of my poetic friends. You make me smile, with your grand old tunes and poetry.
Forty
MidnitePhantazy: You seem to have been hanging around here longer than I thought. You're an excellent writer, especially the twisted stuff. I love the twisted stuff, for I am quite twisted myself. :-D Keep it up, it makes my day.

A Message 3/15/2003
To various people with too many asterixes in their names to be healthy/sticky caps/various other annoyances, specifically, those who have noted me with requests to vote for them or something similarly ridiculous:
No.
To any other losers who want me to vote for them for anything/ even though I have no idea who you are and will probably hate your diary anyway, because you can't write anything using proper capitalization and I doubt your grasp of the English language, judging by the content of your entries and the abomination you call a diary description, therefore I will never get to know you because you will most likely never learn how to converse properly and I will get incredibly irritated and insult you in ways you won't understand:
Don't even think about it.
Sincerely,
Jenna D.
P.S.: If, by some chance, I do know you, I'll be happy to vote for you in stuff. I will doubt your sanity if said "stuff" is anything like what I've mentioned above, but I'll vote for you.

It's About Time 3/14/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: cap-a-pie
Finished Kushiel's Chosen.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ti-Philippe is aliiiiive!!!! Wahoo!!!!!! And Joscelin and Phèdre found each other! And they pretty much stormed the temple in La Serenissma, with the pirates, and Joscelin had a HUGE fight with David de Rocaille, the Casseline who was going to assassinate Queen Ysandre de la Courcel, and it was with swords. Casselines don't draw their swords unless they intend to kill. And Joscelin won! And Melisande is still alive. Dammit. And Percy de Somerville got executed for treason! And Ysandre made Phèdre a Companion of the Realm and then Phèdre officially announced Joscelin was her consort! And then there was a chapter from Kushiel's Avatar and it didn't give away very much but there was something about Hyacinthe!
And nobody understands or really gives a fuck besides me. But I don't care.
Update at my web site. Go see, or something. Please.
I have to work tonight. Supposed to be 5-9 but Mom just got back from work and told me that Bert only needs me until 8, which is good, because then I won't be two hours late for Julia's party tonight. Only one. Should finish my film tonight too, then I'll have more pictures up next week.
Hm. I'm hungry. Must eat.
Later.

Love As Thou Wilt 3/12/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: quash
So I'm in Ottawa, at my Aunt's house. Supafun? We had Swiss Chalet for dinner. Mmmm.
And Casey's in Newcastle. Hmm.
Monday, Heather, Casey, Pat, Katie and I went to the mall. I spent my gift certificates. Bought Kushiel's Dart and Kushiel's Chosen, a really nice blouse that I have to exchange for a larger size, a grommeted belt that wraps around twice, three CDs: The All-American Rejects, Barenaked Ladies Disc One: All Their Greatest Hits, and Coldplay's Parachutes, and a big bag of juiceberries from Bulk Barn. And the obligatory New York Fries. :-D Had fun. Then I had to work 5-9 but got sent home early because it was slow. Went out to Katie's, where Casey, Heather, Katie and I played pool and hung out in the hot tub. LOL, we ran out in the snow and then got back in. GOD it BURNS. But it's fun. Felt sooooo nice. We practically fell asleep on the way home. Mmm.
Yesterday we came up here. Four-hour drive, what fun. Stayed up until 11:30 reading Kushiel's Chosen, which is quite excellent. I was planning on reading Kushiel's Dart again before getting into the sequel, but dammit, I couldn't wait to find out what happens. It's sooo good. I feel so bad for Phedre and Joscelin... he's being such an asshole and she's so damn stubborn. The Yeshuite scholar told Phedre something along the lines that if she were smart, she'd just settle down and marry him. I laughed. And they're getting closer to finding out who freed Melisande Shahrizai... Mwahahaha...
Today we went out to my cousin Vicki's house, which is another hour-and-a-half long drive to the middle of freaking nowhere. But it's a nice house, quite airy. Got to see her son Ethan, he's soooooo adorable! It was really nice to see her again, we don't usually get up here to see anyone at all. We might be up in April for Karen's baby shower though.
We also went to Grandma's and I fixed her computer. Wasn't that hard. Had to download some anti-virus software though, or else her computer will turn into a "cesspool" like our downstairs one did.
Um.. yeah. Not much else. Going home tomorrow morning, then I plan to call on Heather and Casey so the three of us can kill a snowman.

A Quest? That's Just A Hike With Riddles. 3/7/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: tub-thumper
Duuuude. It's March break! Hooraz!
Wednesday was a snow day so I finished Final Fantasy 7. Hooray! I saved the Planet! It was really good. I died the first time against Safer Sephiroth but I went back and tried again and whipped his butt. Rock it.
Got my Math test back. 63%! Yay? Better than last, still ridiculously sucky. I'm going to go into Guidance next week and switch down to the U/C level. Same class, just minus one unit. And then I'm going to switch Chemistry for Data Management for next year. I had Chem as my alternate but since I'm doing really well in it this year and I love it, and I suck at Math and I hate it, I'm going to make the Data Management my alternate. I talked to Melissa at work last night and she said if I like grade 11 chemistry, I'll love grade 12. She hated grade 11, took it in grade 12 because she had to, and loved it. So yeah.
Driver's ed starts after March break. A whole week and a half I can't work because it's after school. Two band and two choir practices I'll miss. Sharpie will kill me. Well, not really, I mean, it's Mr. Sharpe, he almost never gets mad and when he does it's scary beyond all belief. But he hates people missing practice for reasons other than a death in the family or life-threatening illness.
Ooooh, "Starseed" by Our Lady Peace is on the Edge.
So March break has begun. So far, I have read the first three Harry Potter books and started on the fourth, before I got distracted. Should have it done... tomorrow afternoon? I have to work tomorrow morning. Then I want to go to the library. I need something new to read, dammit! Preferably Kushiel's Chosen by Jacqueline Carey, the sequel to the book Dave lent me last year. The third one is coming out this month. Grrr. Must. Read. All I know is something on a ship (which I read on the author's web site), and the first chapter (which I read on Amazon.com in the preview thingy). Joscelin gets reeeeally upset when Phèdre says she's going back to the service of Naamah and sits outside for like, a whole day, meditating and praying. Oh yeah, and what Dave told me at the beginning of the year before he left: Joscelin and Phèdre had sex, then he left. I was like, "Awww", and then, "Bastard!" respectively. Perfect Companion my ass. So I must find out what happens. Just because.
Heck, better put that Chapters gift card to good use. Go out and buy 'em. All three of 'em. That'll keep me busy for a while. :-D
Baaahhh... Don't wanna work tomorrow.
Oooh. Casey's coming tomorrow. Kick.

Kick.

I am a bastard, technically -- of course. [j.e.]
The Name Game 3/7/2003
I stole this survey from Jessie's diary ages ago. Finally finished it. Hooray. This is the name survey, you just type the first thing that pops into your head when you hear that name.
Jack: I have an uncle named Jack. He's really tall. He has six brothers, or maybe seven, but either way there's lots of them and they ALL have male pattern baldness and full beards except one. At my cousin Vicki's wedding, her husband Josh had to identify his new father-in-law by his head. He got it right. I think it was Jack's nose.
James: James is a kinda common name on my Dad's side of the family. My dad's name IS James, cousin is named James, my brother's first name is James. We only call my brother Daniel because of the other James, who, by the way, used to go by Jamey until he became a teenager. By then he was too "old" for Jamey. Hm.
Chris: I know lotsa Chrises. Chris B. is a kinda freaky kid who I've gone to school with forever. Chris M. is one of those stupid jocks. Chris W. is funny. He used to have a mole behind his ear but got it removed last year. Chris S. is an old neighbor and sort-of friend of Daniel's. He's really annoying, mostly due to his Asperger's.
Heather: I don't know any Heathers. *blank stare* Well DUH I know a Heather! THE Heather, Goatmilk, Shibs, the Girl with a Bigger Cock Than You. (long story) Ohhh the stories of Heather. We were in the same kindergarten class ya know. I have pictures.
Sarah: There are lots of Sarahs too. Sarah A. is the Leo's club VP. Some Sarahs are bitches. Or skids. Sarah A. is really nice, she's dating Pat. Sarah F. played Minnie May Barry in Anne of Green Gables and won the grade 7 drama award for that year. She's nice. Her older brother is Franklin though. Who is gross.
Samantha: I don't know any Samanthas other than Chris S.'s bratty sister and Sami from camp two years ago.
Beth: Beth is Katie's sister. She has chronic fatigue syndrome. She's 20 this year and I can tell she's getting frustrated because she wants to finish high school and get her G2 and everything else people her age have done ages ago. Beth talks with a bit of a stutter but she's really nice.
Dan: My brother is Daniel. By family, he is called Daniel. By some friends, he is called Dan. I think he's usually Dan when it comes to hockey too. His best friend Kellen calls him Danny, and he's the only one who can get away with it.
Kelly: I know... no Kellys. My sister owns a Kelly doll though. Bathtime fun Kelly. Go us.
Stephanie: I have a cousin with that name, although she spells it Stephaney. She's the one that had a baby this year. There's also Stephanie who I went to camp with once. The other Stephanies I know are bitches.
Michelle: Michelle L. is a reeeeally good flautist. Her brother is a drummer. I had a character named Michelle once. Then I changed her name to Laura.
Stacy: Jessie-who-I-stole-this-survey-from, I remember the Babysitter's Club. I used to read that all the time. Heck, it used to be the ONLY thing I read, LOL. Actually, Claudia was my favourite.
Tristen: I don't know any Tristens other than that guy with REALLY bad hair on Yu-Gi-Oh!, one of the most horribly dubbed series on the planet.
Russell: Russell H. is a bassist. He's good.
Jacob: Jacob is Vicki's son's middle name. Ethan Jacob.
Phillip: NOOOOOOO! This guy is the worst EVER. He's sooo annyoing. Julie exploded at him the other day. It's horrible. Phillip goes away for one year, comes back a whole foot taller but his voice hasn't changed at all. I don't usually say stuff like this, but he is *so* gay.
Jake: *grins* My Mom wanted to name my brother Jake. But Grandma didn't want her grandson reminding her of Jake the Snake. I'm naming my first son Jake Donald. Donald after my Papa Don. I also named a character in a story Jake. Jake Kelley. He was cool. Depressing, but cool.
Adam: Little opinion on Adams. Heather went out with an Adam. She could stand on his stomach and he wouldn't flinch. I never met him. There was an Adam I went to elementary school with and he was irritating. He moved. Except there's Adam the Trumpet Player, who gives me hugs. Every time he sees me.
Brian: Brian is the lead singer of One Second 2 Late. He also plays the trombone and barimbas and the cello. He went on the Trent Trip. Rob and Brian antics abounded.
Nick: Awww, Nick... the one Nick I know almost died like, twice in grade nine. Pancreatitis. But he's funny and a real sweetheart. The other Nick is in OAC and he's an asshole.
Mike: Katie's brother is named Mike. We had fun making fun of his friend once. A lot of other Mikes are irritating.
Tony: Don't know any Tonys.
Amanda: Too many Amandas! Amanda J. is friends with Pat and did 1-credit co-op over at the Pines with the special ed kids in the same period as me. Amanda C. used to be in Girl Guides with me and I hate her because she's an annoying bitch. There's a new girl who knows Andrew who is named Amanda.
Richard: Um... nope.
Karen: My cousin Glen's wife is named Karen. She's so nice and expecting a baby at the end of May.
Shannon: Shannon is on the Reach team, new this year. She gets ridiculously good marks in math. We have dubbed her the "Token Cute One".
Linda: My mom's side of the family calls her Linda, or just Lin. Short for Marilyn.
Bridget: Don't know any Bridgets. I do remember being in Brownies and there was a bear named Bridget who they sent all over the world...
Tim: There's a guy in my grade named Tim. I don't know him very well but he was in my grade 7 class and my teacher always used the same partners, and he was mine. He wouldn't provide any suggestions on anything but is a good artist.
Matt: One Matt we call Blowman. Heheh. The other one graduated; Lor, Erin and Leigh had him as a Peer Helper in their art class and dubbed him Buck. Buck Naked. He works at the pizza place uptown.
Aaron: HUGE guy on my bus. My brother calls him "That Guy!". He's going out with Kallie.
Brooke: Don't know any, but my French teacher named her new daugher Brookelin.
Chad: Chad! I know a Chad, he likes ska. Another Chad is one of those strange guys... yeah. My sister hates the name Chad.
David: Ugh. Julie's ex-boyfriend. The only thing he'll ever succeed at in life is going to jail. Completely fucked up Julie's life for almost a year and since has completely turned her off dating. Happily, though, she's two and a half months Dave-free! Hooray!
John: Got an uncle named John. He's funny. There's a kid on Daniel's hockey team named John.
Rob: Brian's other half. Plays bass in One Second 2 Late and has a "Bob the Builder" backpack, which works for him because he's Rob. Really, he's supposed to be in grade 10, but he skipped senior kindergarten. He has no idea why, he just knows that he was in JK one year, and then he went to grade one. Oh-kay...
Clay: Henry, Clay Henry, he's a fireman and a Jared fan... something something something, Subway, eat fresh!
Christina: Don't know any other than the singer who is drowning her talent in whorishness.
Casey: Yay! Casey! Casey is Heather's boyfriend of about a year. He's coming down for March Break from Ottawa. Internet boyfriend. Met him online about two years ago... can't believe it's been that long. It's insane.
Steve: Ahhhh, Steve. Pokage of the flubbage! Steve is rather musical, but hates everyone, therefore he won't be THE Music Student next year. Doesn't have the charisma, and agrees with me. He plays everything though.
Jessica: There's a few Jessicas I know, they're fairly nice. Jessica C. got hypnotised by Casey St. Jones when he came to our school, and she kept falling over.
Mandy: Chick from Girl Guides. In Denmark on exchange right now. Good riddance.
Craig: I dunno. There's a kid named Craig that Kim used to stalk back in grade six...
Austin: Powers by name, Powers by reputation... :-P
CJ: Um... nope. But there's a G.J.
Bill: Brother Bill, on the Edge.
Adrian: Guitarist in OS2L. Known him since kindergarten. His birthday party was the first one I ever went to. There were name tags... I remember that much. And then at Rudy's there was a treasure hunt!
Betsy: Um... Grandma's car. LOL.
Eric: Foreman from That 70's Show. There's a kid in grade 10 that looks like him.
Justin: Yeah Justin! Justin's the greatest punker alive. He tried to teach me how to skank and I failed, as you may know. He's all giddy because he has a new girlfriend... Jen, who apparently, is the greatest in the world. He was sad yesterday because he hadn't seen her since Saturday and she's going to Niagra Falls today and he had to work last night because SOMEBODY (Kyle) wouldn't take his shift.
Nicole: My cousin, who's throwing her life away by turning into an exact replica of her stepsister, who she hates. Right.

Oh, Do Yourself A Favour. 3/3/2003
WORD OF THE DAY: career
Soooooo anyway.
Fucking cold snap today. Walking to the bus stop, my eyes had watered and as a result, my eyelashes froze to my cheeks and my scarf. Not pleasant.
Got review for tomorrow's test in Math. Hopefully this time I'll do better than the 52% I got on the last one. This one's on quadratics, radicals and complex numbers, the first I did okay in last year, the second I fucked up on the quiz but have rectified, and the last is fairly simple. i2=-1, and the square root of -1 equals i. Rock it.
We also had a Reach tournament today. Sucked ass, but we beat Port Hope. Last time we played them it was close but they edged ahead a little. But we won today. And Coburg West beat us, but by a smaller margin than last time (20 questions ahead... gah) and we did really well. Got some hard questions right. There was a team question on Harry Potter; I got the first part and then Katie and I were automatically answering the subsequent three together. First part (scramble, the team who gets it right wins the remaining 3 questions) was something along the lines of "Daniel Radcliffe plays what character..." and I buzzed in before she finished. Mwah ha. Aaaaand the other questions were "What house is Harry Sorted into?" (Gryffindor), "What should you eat following an encounter with a Dementor?" (Chocolate) and "What platform at King's Cross station takes you to the train to Hogwarts?" (9 and 3 quarters). So booyah to us.
Got back to Chemistry to find the place in chaos. We started a lab on Friday with zinc and real hydrochloric acid. Oi. I offered to type the lab up because I wasn't here and Sarah did the last one. The crazy thing one, Luke, Derek, and Vince's group fucked up soooo badly. For one, they spilled their zinc chloride, and apparently tried to sweep it all back into the beaker. Then they mixed something wrong, and measured this wrong, and pretty much would have to start back on what we did Friday in order to get proper results. Um, yeah. Chem test on Wednesday. I think I'll rock socks. Because I love Chemistry.
Choir cancelled tonight. Pissed. Band had better not be.
Dude, Monty Python's Flying Circus is on at eight. Sweet.
